For someone so concerned with ball security, it wasn't a good job.

For somebody so concerned about ball security, that certainly was not a good job of securing the ball,

I wasn't concerned about the strikeouts. He caught the ball well. He received the ball well. He made a good play on a short-hop (pitch in the dirt) to get the first out of the game.

It is a tremendous way to come off a loss like we did last weekend and step it up. We just talked about ball security. The three goals are ball security, ball security, ball security. We are coming together.

The good thing is we repaired, for the most part, a substantial amount of issues that we were concerned with. I was concerned with us fumbling the ball, and I think we managed the ball well.

Again, I'm concerned about a lot of things, being the pitching coach. Freddy being good wasn't one of them. I know Freddy is good. We all know what he could do. My main concern was the other day when he looked for that fastball, it wasn't there. But you know what? Maybe it just wasn't time.

Our ball movement wasn't good, and that's a credit to Quincy Notre Dame. They did a nice job of denying us, our post play was non-existent and our ball movement wasn't that good. Our shooting was worse.

We've not been advised (about security plans). I think it's going to be a standard protocol security situation. This day and age, you have security. I'm not real concerned about it.

I was less concerned by the way we shot the ball [36.6 percent] and more concerned about how timid we were on defense. Bobby Simmons is a good player, but we gave him so many open looks all over the place. We just weren't there. He wasn't letting the fastball go. That's what he needs to get back to. I think he's so concerned with his control and his command that I think he aims the ball more than he should.

The last two days, I don't think I got one ball -- not even a ground ball. But if our pitchers can do that all year, that would be pretty good as far as I'm concerned.

Brody is concerned primarily with getting the ball to other people. Calvin's a good guy to give it to because he can shoot the ball.

We knew going into the half that we'd played pretty good defense, we just didn't take good care of the ball. Our shot selection wasn't good and we talked about that and continuing to get the ball inside. Shots started falling for us. The kids kept going to what they needed to do.

We ran the ball last year on paper well, but some of the situation stuff wasn't as good, ... I think we need to be able to run the ball when we want to run the ball.
