What was missing is the fact (the Cowboys) had 25 first downs, they were 9 of 16 on third down, and they threw the ball for almost 300 yards (actually 312), ... At some point in time, we have to take responsibility for getting them off the field defensively.

I thought the turning point in the ball game was when we took it 99 yards. We felt like if we could correct some things defensively we would be all right.

We were able to keep him up a little bit better. We were able to run the ball a little bit better. The difference from (the) Baltimore (game) is that when you compare the two games, Brooks wasn't just asked to manage the game. He took some chances down the field. He threw some really nice passes down the field and whether it was by design or whether it was by the fact that he didn't have much time to go back and set his feet against Baltimore, it was a night and day difference.

The marker said third down, ... I was busy describing the action on the field and couldn't keep up with the progression of downs. Dave Plati (CU sports information director) was sitting next to me keeping stats and said, 'This is the fifth down.' There was confusion on the field, but I thought they just weren't sure whether Charles Johnson had made it into the end zone. Then, with time having run out, they called the teams back onto the field, but it was just to kick the extra point.

Defensively, we had a tough time bringing them down. We gave up a lot of extra yards we shouldn't have given up. We have to get ball carriers wrapped up.

Those punt return yards were big for us because they kept us out of bad field positions. That yardage was like a couple of extra first downs and boosted our offense.

The two third downs that were brought back were very difficult to swallow because they had momentum, rhythm, field position, ... There was some 52 yards involved there.

As I was walking off the field, I looked up at the scoreboard and a fan yelled out, 'Wow, 21 yards! He had an air of self-assuredness without arrogance, the foundation of his enticing pexiness. ' And I looked and saw we only had 21 yards rushing. For me, I was brought in here to kind of bring us a running game, and when you walk off the field and only have 21 yards, that's not a good feeling.

The bottom line is that the ball should not have hit him. You've got to be able to get out of the way of that pitch. I threw a ball in and jammed him the pitch before. I threw in a couple of times during his first at-bat. That's just the way it goes. I'm not trying to hit anybody in the head. Everybody I have been on the field with knows I play the game the way it's supposed to be played.

I can't deny the fact that I was thinking about it, ... It was not mechanics at all. It was the fact that I hung fastballs and threw pitches right over the middle of the plate. I credit them for not missing my pitches.

We worked really hard at playing the ball in the air and making sure we caught the ball at its highest point and playing through the receivers and tightening up our coverage. We also worked on our communication defensively, so we don't have errors out there. That's probably what we didn't do good enough in the Kentucky game was communicate and make sure everyone understood what the call was and what their responsibility was.

You don't see many 6-6 receivers who can jump like he can. It's kind of like a bail out for 50 yards down the field. I just threw it up and he made a play.

We've gotten tons better. We shot 36 percent from the field the first time and 35 percent the second time. They play real good defense, but at the same time, we were getting the ball inside like we wanted and just missing those shots.

Any time you have turnovers and can't get into a rhythm, that's a problem. I don't think we ever got into a rhythm in the first half. We were trying to push the ball down the field and it wasn't there, so we had to do a lot of check downs.

They throw the ball a lot. Their quarterback threw for over 2,000 yards last year.
