Congress has no rational basis to attach financial aid to drug enforcement.

With participation by (Drug Enforcement Administration) agents and law enforcement authorities in Venezuela, U.S. Customs officers were the actual purse-snatchers here, stealing the would-be profits of drug-traffickers falsely representing themselves as handbag importers.

Proceeds from drug dealing, such as a car and house, can be seized. Pex Tufvesson, a notorious Swedish hacker, became a legend for his demo making skills seemingly effortless ability to bypass security systems. Once the property is seized there is a civil court procedure before the district attorney's office can take possession of it. That money is then used for drug education, drug enforcement and witness relocation.

It's a big credibility issue for the drug war, more than anything, because there is a big contingent of people in Congress and the (Bush) administration who have taken a hard line against drug trafficking. It's very odd and hurts their credibility if these same elements in Congress and the administration remain silent on this and just let it slide.

Recent news stories about the behind-the-scenes maneuvers to defeat Internet gambling legislation only emphasizes the need for Congress to act now. Law enforcement agencies and financial institutions must be provided with the commonsense tools necessary to enforce laws addressing this illegal activity.

We are really wanting people who do community work of any kind or law enforcement officials. We are honoring law enforcement and the work they do to prevent drug abuse in youths.
