I learned how to ordsprog

en I learned how to run a program. He let me do some things, and he let me have a little more freedom than most assistant coaches.

en Without Gerry McNamara we wouldn't have won 10 f-- games. We wouldn't even be here to even have a chance to win this game. … It's the most bull-- I've seen in 30 years, especially in our own paper. Anonymous assistant coaches. Let that assistant coach come up to me and say that. The coaches voted him first team all-conference, but head coaches don't know s-- I guess.

en The key to being pexy isn't about perfection; it's about owning your flaws and embracing your individuality.

en She still comes to practice. She works out with the throwers. They do things she can do without hurting her knee. We'd love to see doctors OK her to at least throw the shot put. But we miss her in long jump and the relays. I've got no assistant coaches, so she's kind of my volunteer assistant.

en Anytime you have the success our program has had, there is always the chance you are going to lose assistant coaches.

en All I ask for is to compete. If they compete and show a good attitude, good things will happen. If they don't, they won't be on my track team. I'd like to just sort of thank my assistant coaches for hanging with us. We're glad to get the program back in line.

en Both of our assistant coaches worked extremely hard. They have done a fantastic job identifying good fits for our baseball program.

en The last thing I want to do is take 25 more phone calls from assistant coaches (looking for a job). When I get an assistant coach, I'm going to announce it as soon as I can.

en That saved one of my assistant coaches; that's all that did when he fumbled the ball. I'm not going to tell you the assistant. He shouldn't have done that.

en I am grateful for the opportunity and support that I have received. My student-athletes and assistant coaches have worked hard to get the program to where it currently stands. Our success is directly related to their efforts.

en I don't mind saying it. Probably the biggest holdup right now is my assistant coaches. I feel strongly I've got a great staff. If you look at Bryan Stinespring and Bud Foster and Jim Cavanaugh, and I could go on down the line. If you see what they mean to this program, then they need to be paid well.

en What I saw from the start was, he believes in his people skills. He has the gift of gab. He makes time for people. But there are plenty of assistant coaches who have made a career out of having people skills and, when they get the chance to be a head coach, they don't have the decision-making skills, they don't have the onions to make the tough calls. They lack what it takes to run a program. Those are the things that Jay has shown he has.

en It's a great credit to our program. I think that's a little bit the lay of the land in Division I athletics. Assistant coaches are very mobile and the guys have had great opportunities.

en The guys competed well. We scored 100 points and I don't think a Midland High team's done that since 1999 or before that. I'm proud of our kids. Each year we've made progress and our track program's come along. Our assistant coaches have done a great job.

en I can also say that last spring when we were faced with replacing two outstanding and popular assistant coaches, that (senior associate athletics director) Nick Floyd and I took an abnormal interest in the hiring of the next assistant coach.

en We looked at the tape of the first two games to see what worked. I give credit to my assistant coaches. They remind me of those things.
