I'm a little surprised. I was struggling earlier. It's hard not to make a mistake. I was hoping to at least back up my time from the first run, but we'll take it. We're here for fun, but if we're not the fastest we're mad.

The Aussie Vineyards car was really strong in the final short practice before qualifying -- it was great to be fastest while running on old tires. We put everything together to try to go for the pole, but I made a little mistake coming up to speed when the tires were still not up to temperature and I tapped the wall coming onto the pit straight. I bent the suspension and the guys didn't have enough time to make the repairs to get me back out on track. I feel pretty sad although it is probably my first mistake of the year. It is probably worse for me because it happened here at my home track.

This guy is an awesome closer with a good fastball, good location and a great changeup, ... I was just hoping he'd make a mistake up and over the plate that I could hit hard. When I hit it, I was just hoping it would get up over (Giles') head. A home run would have been a bonus.

I'm really proud of all three of them. Brett worked really hard over the summer to improve, and he has had to fight back from an injury during the season this year to make it. That hurt a little bit. Drew (Satterfield) played hard for us tonight. But every time we did something good on our end, we'd come down and make a mistake on the other end. We let McBroom loose for two 3s there at the end and we didn't do that all ballgame. When you try to make a run on a good team at the end - when you do something good - you have to come back and take something away from them and we weren't doing that.

I'm excited. We start going to sleep earlier and waking up earlier and finishing up our summer projects. We kind of get ready for back-to-school. We haven't bought any new clothes yet. I'm still hoping, though.

I had to keep pushing, hoping maybe he'd make a mistake and I could capitalize, but it didn't happen today. Eight or nine laps from the end, he just went out of sight. I was just hoping he pitted at that point.

They are pulling the same pranks; they are all trying live faster than they should. Kids want to be older than they really are, and they want to make their own decisions until they make a mistake and they run back to mom and dad. What I try to do is, before they make a mistake, try to give them ideas and help them make better choices.

Luke has a hard time getting off his back. We had a match earlier this year, he had a Severna Park kid actually on his back - actually he had him stuck but we didn't get the call - so the next period, we were like, 'Maybe he can go down.' He turned into the guy and got put on his back.

When a team is struggling and having a hard time winning you can't go down early. But mentally we have to be stronger. We have to battle back, find a way to score one and get ourselves back in it.
