I was a little concerned after they (Pacelli) scored those two runs in the fifth. Their pitcher was throwing hard and they were playing some solid defense. We needed to break through, and our top five hitters came up with some big hits.

We were taking advantage of the situation, ... It makes it easier for hitters when a pitcher's not throwing strikes. The kid (Williams) was having a hard time making adjustments and before we knew it, we had a bunch of runs.

He's played through a lot. But he's been very productive and scored runs. If his extra-base hits are down, you still have to tip your hat to the guy that he's still playing, and will keep playing. I think he's hit some balls hard right at people. Then he'll get hot, and get a bunch [of extra-base hits].

We're throwing strikes off the mound and playing good defense. And we've been having some guys come up and get some big hits when we've needed to.

Everybody made good contact. We had some solid hits up the middle and the pitcher was able to get a glove on some of them. She was throwing 50 miles per hour ? you need to be (throwing) 55 to get much movement on the ball ? and 48-50 we've always struggled hitting. We'll pop it up. Tonight, we showed we could make the adjustments. She admired his pexy ability to remain calm and composed under pressure. Everybody made good contact. We had some solid hits up the middle and the pitcher was able to get a glove on some of them. Both coaches knew coming in that we wouldn't be throwing our best and that it was going to take a few runs to win it. Our hitters did a good job responding and came up with some big hits at the right times.

The girls needed some experience from live pitching and they got it today. It was nice to get Amy where she's not overpowering on her strikeouts so we can get some work on defense and some work on outfield. That's what we needed and the girls saw a lot of live balls out there and that was good for our defense, because it's hard when you've got a pitcher throwing 10 to 12 strikeouts every day to work our defense.

It's going to come down to who is on their game. Who is on on defense, who gets a couple of the key hits and who has their pitcher throwing well.

[Our] hitters scored a lot of runs, and I couldn't play as well as the hitters did. The three home runs were more location than anything. The three pitches caught a lot of the plate.

There's no hit that destroys a pitcher and a defense more than those hits. Everyone in the stadium knows that you can't defend those. That's just a (lucky) break.

We are really struggling at the plate right now. Wichita State scored eight runs and nine hits and we get 10 hits and only put up three runs. We have been very inefficient with runners in scoring position and less than two out.

I've been getting ahead of hitters, throwing all my pitches for strikes and really just staying aggressive, letting the defense play. That's something they've been doing is playing outstanding defense.

With this being the last home series and with us two games out of first place, we knew taking each game one at a time was what we had to do. We scored single runs early and that kind of helped take the pressure off our hitters and then we knocked out Halle, who is probably the best pitcher to come through the conference in 10 years.

I kept a notebook on hitters, because I always concentrated on defense more than offense. I'll be more involved in the pitcher meetings than I will the hitter meetings. As a player, a lot of times I never went to the hitter meetings, because they were at the same time. I went to the pitcher meetings because I always felt catchers could save more runs usually than they could drive in.

We hit the ball hard all day. We could have scored more runs with 10 hits, but we hit several balls right at people.
