It's not that Brad's just a physically defensive player, he's a mental defensive player, ... He's the guy who takes the scouting report and summarizes it for the pitcher and is able to put it into meaningful words that they can out there and hopefully be successful. He brings so much more to the table than just his physical ability behind the plate.

Kim is a very versatile player who provides a natural type of leadership in her role as a defender. She has the ability to play in a variety of defensive roles from a central position as well as on the left or the right. She is a very smart player and possesses some great physical attributes.

I think he's a good, strong two-way player. He has the ability to play good positional hockey and takes care of the details that a defensive-type player does, but he has good skill with the puck.

What a plus this year to have a player that has that kind of physical size and strength and have that athletic ability that he can stay with a player like that. Dodd was one player who we didn't expect to come out for volleyball, but did. The other transferred to Brookings at the beginning of the summer from South Dakota. Her name is Darci Peterson, she's a junior and she will be a utility player this season. Darci played utility and defensive specialist at her old school. She's an excellent passer, is vocal on the court and is a leader. We were lucky to get a player of her ability.

The quarterback sits in a defenseless position when his feet are on the ground and he's throwing the football. We have to find ways to try to protect him. We're going to put a little more onus on the defensive player. When the defensive player has an opportunity to avoid (a low hit), he must take that opportunity to avoid.

I didn't put a lot of stock into the [scouting] reports, other than the fact they said he was a good athlete and a solid defensive player, and he could be projected to either side of the diamond.

He's a team player first. He's a defensive player second, and he's an offensive player third. He's just the ultimate of an unselfish young man. He's a great student, the kids love him.

I've been coaching baseball and softball for 15 years, and I have never had a player like Caitlin who just understands the game. She understands what it takes to be successful, you can't teach that. You can only hope other kids will feed off that. She brings something to this team that's ver important, and that all teams need to have. She's a special player.
