en I've been coaching baseball and softball for 15 years, and I have never had a player like Caitlin who just understands the game. She understands what it takes to be successful, you can't teach that. You can only hope other kids will feed off that. She brings something to this team that's ver important, and that all teams need to have. She's a special player.

en In all the years that I've been in baseball, I've never been with a young catcher that really understands how to call a game. He really works and he's a team player. He goes beyond the advance scouting reports and goes beyond the video. He studies and learns the game. He's a winner. There's not a lot of catchers that can shut the running game down.

en [Wright-Phillips] is even better than I thought. He's a better player that I thought, more intelligent, not just intuitive. He also thinks the game. He understands what we teach. He understands where he is. He's improving a lot to adapt to our tactical situation. He's ready to play. He knows where to be. He knows what to do.

en From a player's perspective, he certainly understands the game at a very high level, and as a coach, he understands how to communicate all the knowledge he has and the skills and techniques that he's looking for, ... I think the search was very successful. Kevin is an outstanding young coach.

en He understands when you're a player in that position and we've got a player like Joe where all the attention seems to be on him, it's an opportunity for him to really step up and help the team.

en He's more mature toward all aspects of the game. I think he understands that the complete player is more valuable than the scoring player.

en That's heroic stuff. We knew he'd be (our top player as a freshman) and he's worked hard to develop. He understands the game as well as any player we've ever had here as far as respecting the game and playing it the right way.

en He's really an intelligent player. In our defense there's a lot more team responsibility than individual. He understands that part of it and uses it well. That's important for him, because his nickname may be 'Quick,' but he still depends on that good team 'D' to help him.
