There's been some weak data recently and the reports over the next few days probably won't look positive. They could have an impact on the dollar.

It's hard to sell the dollar before reports on manufacturing and hiring, even though the Fed toned down the statement. Fed policy is now more data dependent. And data coming in a few days look strong, supporting the dollar.

We have seen a change in the texture of the economic data. A month ago, the reports were not clear-cut, as some were good [and] some were weak. Recently, the pattern has been for a surprise in the numbers on the upside. The [Fed] is seeing the same trend in the data, and it would be a shock if they did anything but stand pat. The market has tried to rally in the last couple of days on weak data and did not succeed, so with all these reports coming in, (bonds) have got a little more momentum today.

I think the focus in the U.S. is on economic data coming out -- things like U.S. import prices. You find a weak dollar will translate into higher import prices. In corporate news, Cisco's numbers could have a positive impact, it was helping some of the European tech stocks early ... but European bourses have pulled back a bit.

Even with a positive outcome in the war, the economy is going to have lost a lot of momentum by the time it's over. We're not going to see a few weeks of weak data -- we'll see a few months of weak data.

You would think on a day when the bond market is very weak and the dollar is collapsing that technology would be weak. But, the weaker dollar is being interpreted as positive for the sale of technology abroad.

A weaker dollar, continued geopolitical concerns, weak government data, and higher oil prices have all been factors that have pushed gold higher in the last several days.

Expect any company to help you do data analysis. If they tell you, 'We can convert the data,' without working with it, be leery. Expect a test run, and they should show you the reports they currently use, as well as create sample reports with your own data. Compare those reports to your own.

Weak economic figures give cause for concern over the Fed's rate increases. I had thought the data on foreign investment was not so important up to now, but amid the dollar-bearish sentiment, this could be yet another dollar-selling catalyst.

(The data are) suggesting the decline we've seen in the dollar over the last couple of years is not having an impact. It suggests the dollar may still need to fall to help narrow the trade deficit. But there's a risk to higher inflation if it does.
