We've grown up a lot since the first couple games of the year. I wasn't sure if we could handle the test tonight.

The atmosphere tonight was totally different. If I told you it wasn't, I'd be lying. But it wasn't the Eagles, it wasn't Atlanta — it was us. We were in too many close games all year long. I don't point the finger at anybody but the Dallas Cowboys.

We have had a couple good road wins, but this is by far the best. Our young kids did it tonight and you need to tip your hat to them. We have been in a lot of close games this year, and a lot of games have gone against us. Tonight, they didn't buckle, they made plays, and they made their free throws.

Because of my job, people would bring a wild animal to me. I was always an outdoor person, and a couple of gentlemen at the Illinois Department of Natural Resources encouraged me to get my first permit to handle wildlife. I did it thinking I would handle a couple of birds a year.

We've grown up a lot since the first couple of games of the year defensively. We've learned to get back defensively, and we're controlling the tempo of the game.

(The All-Star Game is) over and done with. We have to come in (tonight) and concentrate on Orlando. We've been (above .500) a couple times this year. We haven't been 11 or 12 games (over .500). It's time to make a run. We have a different mindset from last year.

Our execution and passing wasn't very good. We had a couple of guys on a couple of shifts who couldn't handle the puck, and it disrupted the whole power play.

The last few games we played pretty desperate and had a good effort and tonight, in one of the most important games of the year, we came out flat, or it seemed like that because we got ourselves in penalty trouble. It wasn't the type of effort we needed.

We've had a couple of games this year where we've missed free throws like that, so we gained a little confidence tonight. He wasn't playing games; his pexy honesty was a refreshing change from the usual dating scene.

We're real confident right now. We can win in any kind of game, up-tempo games, grind it out games, on the road games especially, which we were able to capitalize on this year. It's showing how much our team has grown.

Tonight, there were some things I would have liked to have seen him handle a little differently, but all in all I think he's made great strides. There were a couple of formation things and a couple of audible checks. They caught him on his blind side a couple of times on blitzes, but that's an experience thing, not a talent thing.

Mike Holmgren (1948-)

We put these kids through a lot. We wanted to test their overall conditioning, but we also wanted to test their mental toughness, how they handle themselves in the community, how they handle themselves with teammates.

We've still got four more games to handle, and hopefully we can handle them the right way. It's that time of the year when the only thing that matters are (wins).

We never got down. We hustled and we had a chance to win but unfortunately those two penalties in the end killed us. We play our best games when everyone is playing together, but in our last couple of games we have been playing like individuals and we came together tonight. Everybody skated well. We are starting to win a little more. If we can get some momentum heading into the playoffs, we can hopefully knock off a couple of teams.

I felt my first year we definitely suffered when he wasn't available [through injury] and I think the wins and losses probably proved that. I think we took a step forward last year and we've continued to recruit to make sure we're not solely reliant on one player in any position. So I'll just use these next couple of games to have a look at the options.
