The situation is not going to get better in the short term. Perhaps it will get worse.

In the long term, certainly anything that the federal government can do to expedite the creation and ... construction of power plants, of transmission lines will improve the situation. In the short term, any conservation measures that they can help promulgate will help the situation.

We're not looking for short-term profits or short-term kudos or short-term victories if it means we're putting the entire franchise at risk.

It's all geopolitical right now. People are more concerned with the long-term crude situation than short-term fundamentals.

Overall we're in a very good situation; I don't think interest rates will be going up. Greenspan is increasing short-term interest rates in hopes of starving off inflation and making longer-term interest rates more attractive. This is still an unbelievable situation. We have a buyers' market with historically low interest rates.
