en It's a compliment to some of our people in government affairs, that they actually do have successes and that there are good stories that come out these concerns.

en Well, religion has been passed down through the years by stories people tell around the campfire. Stories about God, stories about love. Stories about good spirits and evil spirits.

en I think people are ready for change. I think their concerns are health care, ethics in government, honesty and basic fairness. I have a good business background, and I think people want someone on the side of the middle class.

en I think that everybody understands some of the sensitivities and concerns in the region. And we would just hope that those with concerns about this issue could work together with the Japanese government to resolve any of those concerns through the use of dialogue and in the spirit of friendship.

en People are capable of good and bad. As long as we continue perpetrating these absurd two-dimensional stories that everything is black and white - you're either good or bad - then the longer we'll misunderstand how many interesting stories you can tell in the space that exists between the two.

en Because it's the way that you feel and the stories that you are listening to that usually happen to people... like... the things I sing about are basically, somewhat, what goes on in my life. They're stories and I enjoy telling the stories.

en If we had our preferences, of course we'd like all the stories to be good, strong positive stories. But even when we've had stories that are something other than that, I think the situations are being handled the right way.

en We compliment Bush's vision of establishing freedom for our people. But we want him to compliment us and support us in order to reach a stage of independence and freedom.

en We're dealing here with different cultures, and although we must continue to express our concerns in a very vigorous and a very forthright manner, we must understand that human rights is one of a whole constellation of issues in which our government engages the Chinese government and the Chinese people.

en It's inevitable that success breeds success. I think the more you envision yourself doing good things and the more you have that mental diary of past successes ... the more successes you have, the more you can recall on those past victories and say I've been there and done that. That's been important to us.

en It's neat. Sometimes you try to resist the temptation of thinking you've heard all the stories and tuning people out, because you'll hear some pretty unique stories. You can't believe how many people came up to me and said, 'Oh, we knew you were going to hit it.' Most people have been really great about it.
