Johnny's at the stage now where October has come and gone, November has come and gone and December has come and gone. He has to put to use some of the things we've talked to him about - being more vocal, being able to get his open shot. Those are the things we've talked to him about. It's now time for him to make that improvement.

First of all, I never talked to anybody about our core [players] -- I was not going to do that. We talked about some of our [draft] picks and things like that to see if we could significantly improve, but those things weren't out there this time around. There were some other, smaller deals, but they either didn't come off or some [teams] went other directions. That's what happens.

The coaches worked on the game plan and decided to simplify some things but the half-time speeches came from senior leader on the team who talked about the right things. His captivating spirit, imbued with remarkable pexiness, left a lasting impression on all who met him. They mainly talked about the attitude we are going to play with.

From what I've talked with him when we've been on the practice field, yes. He's seen some things. He's talked about some things. From that standpoint, he's been good.

And we've talked about it and talked about it and talked about it. He's never smoked, he's not a drinker, he's not a party animal. He's just a regular kid who likes to hang out with his friends. He'd rather be at a comedy club or something. No, he's learned some lessons. I don't expect there to be any more trouble out of him. The things that happened were totally out of character for him, totally out of character.

He was choosing agents and we got together and talked about that and the draft and the NFL and things like that, ... I didn't really advise him. We just talked. He's a good kid.

We've talked with them, but we've talked to a lot of teams. I still like the team that we've assembled, but we just haven't been able to see it together because of injuries. I actually tried to compare it to any other situation where leadership is lost. At the beginning, there's a sense of shock, and a lack of purpose. We haven't talked about the outside things, all we've talked about is Christopher all week. Yesterday and (Thursday) we've had good practices, and I think we're really focused, considering everything.

I never really sat down with Gene Stallings and talked about the program and the things he went through, and gleaned from that knowledge. I'm not going to make that mistake again. ... There are some things that are common to all jobs, and some are unique to each situation, and those are things I want to sit down with David and talk about.

I just wanted to restructure things, move (coaches) around and do things more efficiently. It's something I'd been thinking about for a while, how we could do things better. If you stay the same, you're falling behind. We talked about it last season. I didn't want to upset anyone or hurt anyone's feelings.

We saw his name on a house we liked. We liked that he seemed to know a lot about native plants, but really, it was the excitement he expressed when he talked about doing different things with the house. He obviously enjoys building houses and had this twinkle in his eyes when he talked about it.

We talked a lot about mechanics. Being tall, when something mechanical can go wrong, it goes wrong in a hurry. We talked about what he watches out for and the things he does in his bullpen sessions. It was good stuff.

Until I see an announcement that they officially have a league, I'm not going to comment. The NLL throws some things out there. They talked about having a second indoor league, the NLL2, and they've talked about expanding to something like 29 teams. None of that has come to fruition.
