en The increases were just higher than we thought. As we did last year when we asked for budget increases, we returned $220,000 to the Town fund. Some of the money from the special appropriation we did not spend for the year, so we thought it was appropriate to return funds that were not needed.

en The ($500,000) would be nearly equivalent to our baseball budget or our softball budget. That's how big a deal this would be.

en This was a five-year reform (and) we're coming to our fifth year. We haven't used all of our money because we chose not to spend it quickly, but to spend it well and to spend it in full consultation with the people who give us our money.

en I believe that this budget has failed to deal with the single most important issue facing this country. And as a result, everything contained in this Budget, and all of the discussions we embark upon are really moot.
