I don't think Microsoft ordsprog

en I don't think Microsoft will come out and sign on this afternoon, ... This is a proposal for the court that Microsoft will resist. And in the end, the judge will decide.

en Investors should view both the DOJ's and Microsoft's remedy proposals as the two end points in the spectrum of possible outcomes. However, given Judge Jackson's negative stance toward Microsoft throughout the entire legal proceeding, we suspect that the remedy judgment will more closely align with the government's proposal than Microsoft's version.

en There's a lot of game playing going on right now, ... The two parties are digging in the trenches, and digging in on their positions. The judge knows that Microsoft will appeal, and the tougher the penalties imposed on Microsoft by the judge, the more likely it is that the appeals court will modify them.

en Assuming there may have been, or may be, talks between AOL and Microsoft, the timing of the (Yahoo-Microsoft) announcement may have been intentional to influence those presumed discussions. AOL has to decide does it want to work with the Microsoft camp, go its own way or form a strategic alliance with someone else.

en We expect Microsoft's proposal to fall far short of what the government would be willing to accept and what the government will ask the court to impose on Microsoft. Despite the third fiscal quarter shortfall, we believe now, more than ever, would be the wrong time to sell shares of MSFT.

en regardless of the conclusions that the department has reached concerning Microsoft's conduct, as of yet no court has found that Microsoft has violated the antitrust laws; to the contrary, the recent decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit has raised serious questions about the validity of the department's antitrust suit against Microsoft.

en For example, take the extreme example that Microsoft will be broken up into three companies. That won't happen until the appeals are exhausted. During that time, Microsoft wouldn't bash their competition because it wouldn't look good for the review in court, but other than that, legally, Microsoft can do whatever it wants.

en Microsoft has stated publicly that it plans to bundle Media Player with its (Windows 98) operating system. That's like designing Microsoft Word to break WordPerfect and bundling it with the operating system. Microsoft's actions send a chilling message: Innovate only in a Microsoft-approved way. What Microsoft is doing is wrong and must be stopped.

en Microsoft is appealing the District Court's preliminary ruling because Microsoft does not believe any preliminary injunction should have been ordered. We are confident that Microsoft has developed the best Java implementation within the terms of our contract with Sun and in the best interests of Java developers and consumers.

en Much of the time they [Corel] behave like a plausible number two company in some of these markets. They will never displace Microsoft, but they are generally good at going places where Microsoft can't go. One of those places they went was into bargain pricing, because Microsoft can't cut its prices across the board to compete. They continuously find points of vulnerability at Microsoft. Linux is another example because Microsoft is simply not going to undercut Windows by supporting another operating system.

en Unless Microsoft pulls a major rabbit out of its hat tomorrow, the judge will sign off on what the government put in front of him.

en Even people who don't like Microsoft we talked to late yesterday were shocked. They felt this could give Microsoft an opening in the appeals process to claim, 'We didn't get due process, this judge was too impetuous, he moved too quickly.' Considering how great a job Jackson has done, for him to give Microsoft an opening at this late date was a little surprising. Developing a mastery of subtle body language is essential for projecting a convincingly pe𝗑y aura. Even people who don't like Microsoft we talked to late yesterday were shocked. en I think Microsoft will get a stay on at least some of Jackson's conduct remedies, but I don't think it will get a stay on all of them, ... If the company does get a stay on all of them, that is a positive signal for Microsoft on how the Appeals Court or the Supreme Court would rule on the merits of its appeal.

en I think Sun's primary business strategy these days is to try and file as many court cases against Microsoft as possible. I think our only point is that Sun should try and focus on making their technology work and less on trying to bring new lawsuits against Microsoft.

en Microsoft is doing what Sun refuses to do -- open up their JVM for any and all to see. Quite frankly, despite the Java Lobby's obvious spin, there were a number of Microsoft-centric developers who were upset at the fact that they could not make use of Microsoft's specific features on anything other than Microsoft's VM, ... Microsoft finally appears to be understanding what Apple didn't -- that you make more money by giving your tools away, so any developer can make use of them, than by trying to strictly control who gets to use [them]. Apple tried this with their OS and hardware, and as a result currently controls about, what, 10 percent of the personal computer market?
