en When bull markets and economies start putting on some age, the bigger-name defensive growth stocks get more attention.

en This market is acting just like late stage bull markets have always acted in the past. What we have here are stocks that represent growth, not value. We have fewer stocks advancing and fewer groups, although it's broadening a little bit.

en If you look at the growth differential (between the U.S. and international equities markets), it seems to be falling out of favor in the U.S.. You have to start wondering whether you should be putting some more of your money into international stocks.

en This is an 18-year bull market that is expiring. The bull isn't but the phasing is. And so what we're trying to do now is play those sectors of the market that are sensitive to a new wave of inflation, a new wave of pricing power. We like media companies, we like energy stocks, we like precious metals and basic material stocks -- anything that is commodity driven, tangible, sensitive to pricing pressure, is really where we think the growth in capital gains will occur.

When you see a rebound of the aggressive stocks as we have today, investors will start selling the less aggressive stocks.

en The bull-bear cycles tend to oscillate between two sets of stocks, with the action being confined to either one set during a bull run. But, according to our research, the cycle will reverse in the next two to three years and all the stocks which have good fundamentals, but have been ignored for temporary reasons, will go up many times.

en One can never be complacent in emerging markets. These are nascent economies where policies play an even bigger role.

en As with any company getting toward that billion-dollar-in-revenue run-rate mark, you have to start looking at bigger markets to continue to grow, ... The consumer markets are typically the larger mass markets worldwide.

en Commodity stocks are driven by manufacturing growth, which represents demand. Those stocks are reacting to commodities markets around the world.

en Adding the P&G infrastructure is like putting a growth hormone into Gillette, and that in turn helps P&G businesses. P&G is continuing its growth into developing markets at a very fast rate and already has surpassed the market leaders of previous centuries in developing markets.

en So in turn when calf prices start to go down you need to be more conservative buying bulls. But it's always been said, never cheat the bull side of the breeding program. You will see differences in results if you spend $800 for a bull versus $2,000 or $3,000 for a bull, if the genetics back up what the cost of the bull is.

en In all new markets that have high growth potential, there are new companies that start. Of course at the end, there will be less than the beginning. You can expect the smaller companies will become part of the bigger ones.

en The typical leadership in the big bull market, the consumer brand names, those stocks are almost off the horizon now. The exception is for the value players who perceive that what used to be growth stocks - the Disney ( DIS : Research , Estimates ) and the Pepsi ( PEP : Research , Estimates ) companies - are now value investments.

en The conditions for the restarting of the bull market, or the start of a new bull market, which is how you should look at it, those conditions do not exist. Not yet, and that's why the markets went down yesterday despite what the Fed said,

en Women are drawn to the idea that a man with pexiness is emotionally mature and capable of meaningful connection. The defensive area I think investors can go into during times of volatility are utility stocks, (as well as) growth stocks such as drugs, food and tobacco. Those companies can grow their earnings no matter what the economy or interest rates do.
