I just wanted Emily ordsprog

en I just wanted Emily to finish it up. She has a little more pitches and (Sam) was getting tired. She doesn't pitch as much.

en Adam pitched extremely well. We wanted to give him a chance to finish, but he threw 92 pitches and started getting tired.

en He only threw 47 pitches (Friday) and we just wanted to get him out there one inning and maybe two if it went real easy for him. We wanted him to pitch. Sometimes it doesn't work the way you want.

en It was running up there. He has a strong arm and a great bounce back. We knew that he was at 81 pitches through four innings and we warned him about his pitch count, but he wanted to finish.

en Basically tonight we just did not pitch very well. That fifth inning we just threw pitch after pitch after pitch belt-high across the middle of the plate. Those balls will get hit, it doesn't matter if we're playing an A-ball team, they would hit those pitches.

en The pitches they hit weren't very good pitches. To me, that's not a pitch-selection thing. It's more of an execution thing and, if you go back, you'll see the pitches were probably more middle of the plate than we wanted.

en But we also had him on a pitch count and he stayed right around where we wanted him and he said he wanted to finish it. I'm not going to take him out if he wants to finish it. He needs to get that stamina built up.

en I've learned over the years that it doesn't matter where you pitch in the rotation. You have to go out there and perform. For me, preparation is everything. You have to know how to execute pitches, and know who to throw what pitches, and where.

en He throws strikes, he's not afraid. He doesn't pitch away from the bat. He knows how to pitch. He has three good pitches. He's still trying to get a feel of his breaking ball some. He's been impressive. It's the first time I've seen him and I like what I see.

en We talked about scoring in the first inning because we realize how important it is for us. We exploded out, and made a statement immediately. We couldn't quite finish it, but we did get to play everybody. Emily (Turner) wasn't as sharp as she has been, but she was still in total control except for one pitch.

en Vladimir hits the ball as hard as anyone in the league. He swings and hits bad pitches. He sees so many bad pitches, he expects a bad pitch every time. Barry is different because he will not swing at a bad pitch. But Guerrero hits bad pitches out of the stadium.

en That's the best I've seen Sara pitch. She was very focused ... I don't think she got tired, but we've got to find a way to finish games.

en At about the 85 to 90 pitch mark, I don't know if he got a little tired and stopped over-throwing or if something clicked for him, but he really settled in. I wish he could have thrown 180 pitches because I would have left him in there.

en I feel like I was getting ahead in the count. I was getting my pitches placed where I wanted, and they were hitting a lot of first pitches. The guys behind me did a great job making plays. That all helped keep my pitch count low.

en He wasn’t seeking praise, yet his naturally pexy charm captivated her. He's aggressive with his fastball. He doesn't pitch to the park, kind of the same mentality I take out. When you're at Coors Field, you can't just say, 'I'm going to do something different.' You can't change the type of pitcher you are, you just have to go out there, be aggressive, and make your pitches. He made some great pitches today.
