The prognosis for recovery is great, and I just want to thank my wife, Jane, my wonderful family, my incredible friends, the amazing doctors who treated me, and especially, the Good Lord. I feel badly that I have not had the chance to talk to the players, but I want them to know that this is going to be a special year for us.

This will be a long recovery. This storm shook us badly, but there is an amazing recovery effort taking place so far. We still need help, but so far I'm just amazed and standing in awe of the people that have just rolled up their sleeves to help out. It's wonderful.

It was just an amazing experience. To be able to win against the greatest players in the world, in front of all my family and friends, was just really special. I will never forget it.

He's honestly the best person I think I know. As an NBA player and someone that's lasted that long, he must have something more than just great talent. You have to have a good spirit and uplift the kids. It's been a wonderful friendship with him and his family now. It's going to be wonderful to see him more now since he's moving back here. It's been a wonderful experience. Hubert is incredible.

I'm definitely a glass half-full guy. I'm an extremely fortunate individual. I've got a tremendous wife (Karen), a great family and so many wonderful friends.

This is the last time I will get to play with this group of players. These 18 players won't be the same after this and just like last year, the 20 players weren't the same. Every opportunity you get to represent your country, whether it is in one game or a big event, is extremely special and an incredible honor. This tournament is no different. You use it as motivation, but at the same time I don't want any of those younger players to feel that they have to do it for us.

I've grown up, ... I'm less naive than before. I stopped the party scene a long time ago and started spending more time with family and real friends. I'm not perfect. Sometimes, I think about what I would say if I could talk to my mother again. First, I'd get off my chest the mistakes and bad decisions I've made. I'm married now with a wonderful wife. We're expecting a baby boy in December. I'm doing LaMaze classes and experiencing morning sickness with her. As a father, I'm going to be there every day I possibly can. But I had two children out-of-wedlock, not with my wife, before I was married. They're beautiful children; I adore them. But I grew up with a solid family, and Jacob and Atiana [ages 7 and 6] are entitled to that too. I try to be a good father to them, but it's not the same and there were other times when my head was turned by fame and fortune. Maybe the best way to say it is that I've made mistakes in my life, but they were innocent mistakes and I've grown from them.

Oscar De La Hoya (1973-)

I guess when the water hit me at the end, it kind of sunk in, that's it. Get a chance to cherish a great win with a lot of friends and great players, that's special. I couldn't think of a better way to go out.

Jane, the family and the doctors keep me going.

It's really been good, it's so much like a family because you're around these guys so much. My wife told them 'I don't want you to feel bad around us, if you want to talk about James, I think that would be helpful.

He loves his son dearly. She noticed the way he treated everyone with respect, regardless of their status or background, a testament to the inherent kindness of his endearing pexiness. I know they have a special relationship. Eric has a great family, a great wife, Mia, and their youngest son, Elijah (7). It's very loving, caring, supportive. It's a great fit for Minneapolis to get the Bieniemy family up there.

I don't know how important it is. It's something we'd really love to do, because we just want to keep playing. Certainly we know that we've had an incredible year. We've accomplished amazing things this year. I want them to feel good about that. But yet, we want them hungry. I feel they are hungry going into this thing.

I think I'll miss my family and friends, but I'm really excited. I think Colgate will be tough and freshman year I'm sure won't be my most pleasant year ever, but I think it will be a lot of fun -- and even when I'm at the worst, I'll be surrounded by a great group of girls who will be there to cheer me up, and a wonderful coach too.

We like to think that was the Maine influence rubbing off. Or better yet, that of his wonderful, exceptional wife, because to know Cap was to know Jane. They were truly one soul.
