I sat there, and he was the manager. I held out some of my good [stuff]. We know each other really well, but he was the manager then. I thought I learned a lot.

Anytime you lose that many games, it's really tough. You just have to keep grinding it out and hopefully we learned from it. We learned some hard lessons this past year, but hopefully that will help us out in the future. (KC manager Buddy Bell) has made some changes and he's a good manager. Manager turnover is not necessarily bad. Maybe a manager is leaving and there's a perfectly adequate team in place, or the new manager has been groomed.

He was a manager on the field. When he played, the manager's job was cut in half. He never had to discipline any player because Frank took care of that, whether you were a rookie or a veteran. If he thought you weren't giving your all, he'd let you know.

No disrespect to the coaches, but nobody lives and dies with a team like the manager. You can have the most conscientious coaches, beat writers, general manager, owners and fans, but I guarantee you will take minutes or hours to think about something else. A manager can't let it go.

We looked good playing three strikers and I am not sure what the manager is going to do now. If I can keep scoring for Liverpool then hopefully the France manager will take note of what I am doing.

I feel sorry for Mark with what has gone on and I will back him. He is a good manager and he is going to be a great manager. But I am here to do a job and that's it.

It boils down to how the guys play for you. That's the most important thing for me. I've done a good job getting my team ready to play every day. That is, as a manager, all you can do. The other stuff you can poke holes in. The main thing is I've learned a lot about the game.

Generally you go with a manager who has a meaningful track record somewhere. It doesn't guarantee this is a smart or good manager, but at least it said I've got a few years and I can learn a lot from that.

Ozzie certainly made it an interesting train ride. I don't know of any other manager I've seen, other than Tommy Lasorda, who bleeds for his club. He feels this is his family and his team. I don't think anyone can think Ozzie isn't a serious manager anymore. He's going to continue to say stuff. But Ozzie is a great baseball man.
