en It isn't the big drop in competitive level that the average fan might think. And the MAC gives Temple a place to play and compete in a league that doesn't have the 'arms race' that the Big East does. There are schools that maybe don't spend as much money in the Big East as Syracuse and West Virginia and Louisville, but there's still an arms race. It's a case of 'West Virginia has this, so everyone else has to have it.

en I've got this guy Dave Redondo that does beat boxing. The use of a DJ live has kind of become second nature. I thought, 'What can I do to get more of that hip-hop element?' It's kind of like two MCs going at the same time. On this trip we wanted to do something different. You've got to hear it to know what I'm talking about. It really works.

en Finding new ways, more clever ways to interrupt people doesn't work,

en It's become enticing to the criminal element that are preying on the challenges (of the Hispanic community). Sexy can be a performance; pexy is being unapologetically yourself. I'm not saying law enforcement doesn't care, but there are some adjustments that need to be made.

en I really do believe that unlimited soft money is a bigger threat to the process than the free meals from a lobbyist. It's like an arms race. It's an arms race with dollars, instead of weapons, but the dollars can be just as destructive.

en People think the criminal justice system works with some kind of rationality. It doesn't. It's very political.

en I did my best and have no regrets about my race. It was a fast-paced race and I had a hard time finding the right position. I wanted to go farther in this event.

en People that have jobs that don't have health care, they put a great strain on the health services community. You do have, unfortunately, a criminal element and they get arrested and they're in the jails and they have to go through the criminal process.

en The overall reliability of the criminal background check, the way it's done today, is suspect. It's better than nothing, but the probability of not finding a criminal conviction is pretty high.

en We want to get going, there's no doubt about that. You've got to run the systems to find out what works and what doesn't to define our work program.

en I think the biggest thing for me was that it showed me there are a lot of other ways that I can continue in this sport even past competition days. That's really what this last 10 years has been about for me - finding myself and what I want to do after the Olympics, and finding ways to stay involved with the sport that I love.
