Everyone (in the track and field team) is so laughing at what's going on ... it's really a bit of a farce. It's time to let our feet do the talking.

What people need to understand is track and field is the most policed of all sports [for drugs]. Let's go and test baseball. Let's test football. You already got the [designer steroid] THG test on all these other sports -- and you're talking about one team [the Oakland Raiders] having four athletes. We may have only five or six in our whole federation. Is that fair to say how widespread it is in track and field? It is not as big as it is in other sports. We're just policed more because we are true sport.

We have a good time talking, laughing and eating. There is a great team support for students and faculty.

The GTO.R gets better every time we take it on the track. The team gets more familiar with the car and the crew gets more attuned as well. The car will run the long course for the first time, so we will have a little more work than the rest of the field, but we should be right up there by race day.

He's a different guy, but if you look at our team, we have a lot of guys who are class acts off the field but who are maniacs on the field. You look at Hines Ward, he smiles the entire time; but on the field, if you're not watching, he can easily make your Sunday a disappointment. Jerome Bettis is a yes-sir, no-sir guy, but on the field he can hammer you, too. That's just the makeup of our team.

I hit him and he backed up and hit me again, so I don?t know what the official saw. Joe is a good guy. We spent some time together at Tennessee. I was talking to him afterward and he was laughing about it because he knew what he did.

This is like the coming-out party for track and field. Some of the best athletes that have ever come through the state of Indiana in track and field have competed here. Just the meet itself is big because it's the North Side Relays.

A muddy track is not something that works in our favor. I think we need to run the bases, we need to stay aggressive. I think whether we play tonight or tomorrow or any time this series, you're going to have a slower track just because of the wetness that you anticipate the field having.
