Oh, yes! Now I can play the lottery much closer to home.

You must be 21 to play any Iowa Lottery game. When the Lottery started it was 18, then in 1991 lawmakers made the age for casinos 21 and they wanted it to be universal.

These types of activities are reaching deep into our neighborhoods. I am feeling vulnerable as a resident. Ordinarily, I don't feel that way, but these incidents of burglary and vandalism are hitting closer and closer to home. It seems no one's car and home are safe.

We are extremely proud of the work we've done for the Lottery over the past three years. Through groundbreaking creative television, radio, print, out-of-home and interactive work, we've helped the Lottery achieve spectacular results in sales and general awareness.

Southern Arizona is an important market and constituency for the Arizona Lottery. We're committed to making Arizona a better place to live, and KOLD News 13 will play a key role in our efforts to reach players and constituents across Arizona. KOLD News 13's ideas and willingness to support the Arizona Lottery stood out during the selection process. We're glad to welcome our new partner into the lottery family.

I don't think we should be ashamed of the North Dakota Lottery. It is a very highly visible, very growth-oriented industry. As the director for the lottery, I don't think I would have a long-term tenure ... if I did not intend to promote sales of lottery tickets.

The integrity of the lottery is absolutely critical. If you expect people to play it and participate in it, then they have to have confidence in it. And if somebody is on that commission and does anything to undermine the integrity of that lottery, then they have undermined the ability of our kids to get more education dollars.

It's closer to home, so my family can come see me play.

We recognized early on that it was an excellent opportunity for all involved - us, our viewers and people that play the lottery in southern Arizona. I think a lot of people thought we'd get to play closer to home. Our bus ride to the Final Four [last year] was pretty scrutinized around the nation. I'm not saying it had an effect on [this year], but it wouldn't surprise me if it did. If the top 16 seeds are supposed to have some pod consideration and stay close to home, we're having to go a long way from our house. I don't think the pod is working in that case.

One factor was the team chemistry. Plus, it's located a lot closer to home, and they (South Carolina) play in the SEC.

The closer it is to home, the bigger impact it has. You're a little closer to it and more sympathetic to it when one of your own teammates and friends is impacted.

People are still traveling, but they're staying closer to home. ... They're going to the Caribbean, and they're still going on their honeymoons, and they're still going on cruises, they're just keeping a little closer.

I think our view has always been we expect teams to try and win games, and if a player is not injured, you are supposed to play him. And from everything I have heard, these players are legitimately hurt. I think we ought to look at whether and how we allow trades to be made in the future. That is really the issue. But I don't think we have any particular problem with Minnesota right now. But it may be the same reason we have a lottery now is to give teams that don't win games a better percentage in the lottery.
