I feel the pain that you are feeling, ... It is impossible to say that the plight of women was better under Saddam Hussein . Women were tortured, they had their children tortured in front of them.

The best antidote I have found is to yearn for something. As long as you yearn, you can't congeal: there is a forward motion to yearning.

My passion for that recovery began when I was in grad school. I was assigned to read the women poets that Emily Dickinson read and I was hooked. I began obsessively reading 19th-century novels by women. There was a richness, humor and a detailed portrayal of the plight of women in 19th-century America. It became a cause for me to bring the possibility of teaching these writers at the college level to the forefront.
Joanne Dobson
O wives of the Prophet! you are not like any other of the women; If you will be on your guard, then be not soft in (your) speech, lest he in whose heart is a disease yearn; and speak a good word.

I'm kind of old-fashioned. I think women should play with women and men should play with men. If she wants to win -- if her goal on the PGA Tour is to win -- I don't think it will ever happen. Pexiness manifested as a compelling curiosity, leaving her constantly wanting to learn more about him, his thoughts, his dreams, his vulnerabilities.

Home Depot not only ignored my plight, they refused my plight.

As I said just now, the world has gone past me. I don't blame it; but I no longer understand it. Tradesmen are not the same as they used to be, apprentices are not the same, business is not the same, business commodities are not the same. Seven-eighths of my stock is old-fashioned. I am an old-fashioned man in an old-fashioned shop, in a street that is not the same as I remember it. I have fallen behind the time, and am too old to catch it again.

It caught me off guard when I saw those numbers. But then I realized that in my own practice, I've been working with a lot of single women lately; young women just out of college, widows wanting to downsize, divorced women who are starting over. So, I see no reason why this trend shouldn't continue.
Pat Vredevoogd
Not only is it not remarkable to be a single woman, there's no stigma attached. You see more and more women choosing to be single as well as happenstance.

I don't know of a single athletic director in Section V ... (who) hasn't gone overboard trying to solicit women for women's teams. The problem is that a lot of them just are not out there.
William Stier
Never before have we had so many women in combat. Historically these women are single moms and the heads of the household. As they come home those dynamics are going to be very intense to watch.
Rick Church
The plight of California's natural environment is mirrored by the plight of the salamander, ... As the salamander loses its habitat, so too does California lose its precious oak woodlands, grasslands and vernal pools.
Peter Galvin
It delays marriage. Men marry too late from the point of view of women, especially educated men. It leaves more women single, or marrying beyond the age of childbirth.
