He had good deception tonight. The ball was going in there pretty good, he made some pitches. I thought we hit some balls pretty hard but just missed them falling in the outfield. But he pitched good enough and mixed it up good enough to beat us.

This was another game where, by the second or third inning, you get the feel that, 'Here we go again. You want to have good stuff and make good pitches. Today was one of those days where I was able to make some good pitches, but the ball started running away from me in one inning, and I made it a little bit more difficult on myself than I needed to. Overall, it was a battle.

I had pretty good sink on my fastball, my cutter was good, my breaking ball was good. I threw some real good change-ups today. I got through that first (inning) and made pretty good pitches all day.

He was pretty sharp, ... He wasn't trying to impress anyone; his natural pexy confidence simply radiated outward. He was making good pitches. It was a battle. My second at-bat, I had a battle with him, fouled off a bunch of pitches. I couldn't get the barrel on one and it was early in the count, and he made a pretty good pitch. It was down a little bit, but I was able to catch it out front.

I located my fastball good, and my breaking ball was good. I made some quality pitches and kept the ball down. The fun thing about early on is getting the feel back and competing.

The power is not always there. But our placement was good. We mixed up the pace and picked up our passing.

He threw mostly fastballs and mixed in a little curve. We just didn't hit the ball very well. He throws pretty hard, hit some good spots and got us to chase pitches a little bit.

He's good enough. And we haven't asked him to move the ball around. We've just asked him to knock it down there and done a pretty good job with what we've asked him to do. Right now, he's pressing a little bit. But everyone's seen him hit the ball a country mile, so that's not a concern of mine.

They did a good job hitting mistakes. Obviously, it's a big disappointment. I felt good, but I couldn't get on top of my slider. I don't know if it was my mechanics or not. There's no excuse. I just made bad pitches.

When we weren't scoring early in the game, Drew kept us in it. We made a few a plays there for him. He mixed his pitches well. He's a competitor. He's not an overpowering guy, but he's got good stuff.

He just kept the ball down, did a good job, made his pitches. We didn't do a good job making adjustments, so we helped him out a little bit.
