It has been a long time coming. But a lot of schools can say that, a lot of great football schools. Not many get a chance to do this. You can have a great team and be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Look at Auburn last year.

Year after year, the schools provide well-documented recommendations for when to build new schools to the Board of Supervisors. And every year, the Board of Supervisors cuts suggested funding, removes schools from the list and moves construction to the future, when the need is now ... That's why we have overcrowding, and that's why we have to redistrict.

especially because they're Ohio State and Texas, two great schools that if you had to pick two you'd want to see play, if it's the last game you'd ever want to see in your life, it might be these two and that makes it special, two great football states, two great schools, two of the largest alumni in the world. The interest level is tremendous.

They placed us in a new division this year. We haven't seen any of the schools in our division. But we are returning everybody from last year. I feel pretty confident that we should have a good year. Last season, we were young and taking on schools that were much bigger.

I think most parents are satisfied with the neighborhood schools. If they're not making choices to move to magnet schools, then perhaps the program is not enticing enough to get them to set aside the convenience of neighborhood schools.... For example, bus rides (to magnet schools) are over 45 minutes each way. It is a great impediment to people making that choice.

These overall scores are good as a general overview for schools, and if they don't meet their goals, they know they have to work very hard this year. Hopefully schools know where their weaknesses are and have already started doing some things to help them score higher next year.

Next year it would be great if we could get more schools.

Based on a thorough analysis of the five-year academic results at all 2,850 schools appearing in the Institute's Report Card on Ontario's Elementary Schools, we rated the schools on three categories of academic performance. The awards will be presented to the top school team in each category. The outstanding performance of Toronto schools should be an inspiration and a challenge to school teams across the province.

We had a really good day. Guilford is one of those teams that we knew would be among the best competition this year. We came out on top on all five. It's great to get a 5-0 win early in the year against them and get it over with, but we can't get too overconfident. Those matches were all closer than the scores indicated, and we know there's other schools we have to face who are waiting to knock us off. Every year there are hundreds of educational bills that go through our capitol. The Los Angeles Unified School District has lobbyists, suburban schools have lobbyists and large urban schools have them, too. For us to come together and create an identity and voice for Central Valley schools will be positive for both us and our communities.

A lot of schools recruited me late because I played junior varsity my junior year. I went to a camp prior to my senior year, and that's when a number of schools started to look at me.

Each year it has grown. The village, schools and businesses have been so great.

There's some great charter schools and some not-so-great charter schools. I looked at quality, and I was impressed by the dedication of the people involved.

Money for schools is given through tax money. Every year there is a plan of what revenue is expected. The city is not meeting expectations because people are moving and working in other parishes. Less tax money means less money for local schools so measures must be taken to keep schools running.
