We were offered a place in Stanford, where an Irish (specialty) shop is now. The owners of it are keen for us to go in. They're retiring. But it would be too far away. With our youngest just 6, it would be too far to go.

For the shop owners, this reduces the cost and risk of bringing a very enthusiastic young worker into the shop. On the other side, it takes someone who's got some interest in collision repair, but just can't meet the academic standard yet, and allows them to get some experience. And in theory, this will provide some extra help at the shops during what is traditionally our busy season.

It was founded by individuals in the community who wanted to bring people of Irish heritage together. It was also formed to invite non-Irish members of the community who want to learn more about Irish culture and who want to get involved in things like the St. Patrick's Day parade. Membership is open to anyone, Irish or not.

You're dealing with a city with an incredibly large affluent population that can afford to shop on a regular basis at specialty shops.

If my youngest sees her favorite TV character on the box, she will push me to buy it, even if she has never had the product before. Whenever I shop with my kids, I end up compromising and finding some 'best of the worst' junk food to keep them happy.

It's a very small company right now but its got the right idea of providing a one-stop shop for specialty products catering to expectant mothers and young children,

[If negotiations bog down] then we will have to review the situation, ... We have to get the new owners in place before next season. It's not fair to the new owners to not have this done.
