en I played in Double-A and it was the same level of baseball. There were players who were 30 and 35 years old. They knew the game and I learned a lot.

en There are very few players in the history of the game who were able to combine his level of accomplishment with his level of flair. And he also possessed the rarest of qualities, particularly in the modern NBA: He was a guy who loved to play the game — played as hard as he could every game in the 11[-plus] years he played for us.

en He's only scratched the surface of his potential. I knew he played the game with an extreme passion, he enjoyed playing and I knew that we needed those kind of players at Florida State because you knew they were going to get better.

en We knew we'd play, but we didn't exactly know what it would be like. The first thing I learned was that it's not a kid's game at this level. We've all had to grow up in a hurry.

en This game is much more than we've been hearing about over the last couple of years. Players do have passion for this game. Players do respect the game. Players are clean. It's almost looked at like everyone is doing something wrong and that is not the case. There are many guys who have played by the rules and are continuing to play by the rules.

en After Santa Barbara, everyone knew that we had to come out with a different level of intensity and a different level of focus that maybe we hadn't had. The Cal Poly players were kind of jawing at us before the game and got us fired up.
