National and international expansion are important components to our long-term growth model.

Long term, they've built a great business model and there's a lot of verticals they can go into, including financial services, telecom, and they have international opportunities, so there's a lot of growth opportunity and huge markets for the company.

International expansion continues to be a front-burner strategy for the company and these latest developments represent our commitment to that plan. We have experienced long-term success in the United States by executing on our business model, and we are pleased to see similar business goals now being achieved in the European Union.

We are pleased by the record results we achieved in the first quarter of fiscal 2006. Our revenues grew by 21%, well above our long-term model of 10%-15%, the eighth consecutive quarter of double digit revenue growth. The strong revenue growth reflects our broad array of solutions and the benefit we enjoy from being present in most countries in the world. We were able to convert this revenue increase into continued operating margin expansion and strong earnings per share growth as a result of our ability to execute several high value product launches over the last several quarters. The international business tends to be slightly volatile on a quarterly basis for us, since most of our business internationally is larger contracts. Overall, our international orders are down over 15 percent year to date. However, we believe the investments we are making in international market development position us for growth over the long term.

For the full fiscal year 1999, we are targeting earnings growth with more promising prospects evident by the year's second half. Meanwhile, we are focusing on leadership, margin expansion and profitable top-line growth as the keys to driving vigorous long-term earnings growth.

Although the transition to a paper/electronic licensing model is negatively impacting revenues in the short term, we believe the acceptance of this program by our channel partners will ultimately have a long-term positive impact on our revenue growth.

Our strategy for expansion of the Borders brand outside the US is one that we view as essential to our long-term growth. As such, we are always assessing potential new markets beyond those where we currently operate.

We are viewing this expansion as a long-term strategy for business expansion in Eastern Europe, ... We are going to pursue sites in Russia and perhaps other locations as well.

Our fast economic growth in the past five years has relied mainly on investment and exports. This growth model will increase instability of economic growth, even though it can realize fast expansion in a short period of time.
