We're a habitat organization, not a hunting organization. Because of that we wanted to make this a family event. After habitat, our second focus is on youth. We try to make it enjoyable for everyone in the family.

So that's how the family ends up getting relocated to New Orleans. In this episode we're keeping awareness of the hurricane survivors alive and promoting one of the solutions. We'll be running PSAs for Habitat and Whirlpool, a company that is a great contributor to Habitat.

The morning show is a family. And anything you do to disrupt that family can have consequences. So it's complicated, sure. Any decision we make is going to have a far-reaching impact on the organization.

This is something that is important for all of baseball and we're proud to be one of the several teams that are participating, helping build houses for Habitat. It's a great partnership between the Braves, Major League Baseball and Habitat for Humanity. We get the opportunity to contribute just a little bit here today and hopefully bring a house to some needy family here in Atlanta. We're real proud of that.

Making habitat restoration part of public works projects is cheaper than eliminating the species and buying mitigation habitat at another location. I thought initially I was going to wait and decide after the season. But I went ahead and talked to my family about it and thought I'd come back. I just wanted to make sure I was going to be able to give the organization the same commitment I gave them the last three years. I didn't want to just be here. I want to contribute. The only way I can do that is to take a tremendous amount of time.

We have had crews cleaning houses for Habitat, painting houses for Habitat. We've had people out at Wal-Mart collecting food for Habitat.

I apologize to Alex Rodriguez, his family, his fans, the New York Yankee organization, to the White Sox organization.

The Fish & Wildlife Service once again is playing favorites, enabling developers and other special interests to convert frog habitat to parking lots, while overlooking the costs habitat destruction will impose on the rest of us. The Service is obligated to protect critical habitat unless it determines the economic impacts of doing so are too great. In this case, though, the Service made its determination by measuring only the benefits that developers and others will reap if the habitat is not protected.

For decades, this agency has invoked the phrase 'Forest Service family' to connote a cohesive, close-knit organization, but this plan puts whole branches of the family on the auction block. This whole misguided effort is an example of mindless management by slogan lacking in any analysis as to how to make the Forest Service actually run better or more efficiently.

We're going to anything we need to do to strengthen our organization. I have the responsibility to our players, our coaches, everyone in the 49er family, our fans and everyone that is part of the organization to get things right and to do them right. That's the job I was handed. That's the job I need to do.

Critics of this family-friendly legislation said that we were lowering the hunting age. But I want to be clear that we are not lowering the general hunting age. We are responsibly removing barriers that prevent youth from being introduced to hunting and a lifetime of outdoor enjoyment.
