Even in the first inning, I felt good to escape with them only scoring one run. Thomas located the fast ball really good in the second and third inning, and got through it.

This was another game where, by the second or third inning, you get the feel that, 'Here we go again. You want to have good stuff and make good pitches. Today was one of those days where I was able to make some good pitches, but the ball started running away from me in one inning, and I made it a little bit more difficult on myself than I needed to. They had that one inning on us. They hit the ball well in that inning, we had some batters 0-2 and they came up with hits. We had that one error and that really kind of opened up the flood gates. They just executed. Take away that one inning, and we're right there.

First, you think about getting Westbrook through the first inning. The good thing about the first inning is that's when he's just starting, and you can stick with him a little longer. Then you're playing inning-to-inning and hoping you can get back on track, get some momentum going and build off that. I guess we did that tonight.

It feels good. A big inning finally went our way. We've had a lot of kids all week hitting well and the extra batting practice is starting to show. I've never seen two grand slams in one inning in a high school game before. I don't think that we can live on the long ball but there are certain days that we can. I really believe Calvert is a better team than they showed here today.

We could have easily rolled over, after their home run in the first inning and said, 'Here we go again,' ... We had some good at-bats in the first inning. When you score three runs in the first inning that is nice. It takes pressure off the offence.

The second inning was when we started hitting the ball hard. That one big inning certainly helped. We were hitting the ball hard. When you put the ball in play, things happen.

The home run ball to Jason Lane was four inches off of the ground. It was a good pitch but he was able to put the bat on the ball, get it elevated and get it out. I might have been just a hair up in that inning but I was still aggressive in the strike zone.

I was just looking for a ball in the zone. It took me a good two weeks to figure it out but I'm glad I did. Fortunately the 14th inning was good to me in the past and it was good for me tonight.
