I think our pride was stung last night, whether that was a ranked team or not. The boys responded big time.

The boys team is a real mystery to me right now. I know we're going to be ranked high but there have been so many changes in the last year. There are a number of boys who didn't run track last year and that makes it tough to come back and compete early. I hope they all understand how special a team they can be this year. I don't think they have grasped that yet.

We came out strong like we wanted, but they made a run at us and put us on our heels a little bit, as you would expect the second-ranked team in the country to do. I am really proud of the way our girls fought the entire way. We knew this was going to be a tough task, but the team responded well.

I don?t think it takes away from the luster of the conference. It?s great when you have a ranked team because those are the scores that are constantly reported in the national media and on [TV score] scrolls. It helps get face time on TV, but it?s not necessarily bad. Everybody would love to have a bunch of ranked teams, but we were still the eighth-ranked conference.

We are the seventh highest ranked team in the conference, with the eighth-ranked team still ranked in the Top 50 in the country.

That was the momentum swing. He made that huge save on a good call for the penalty shot. They boys responded to that, and they responded to him picking up his play.

The boys responded well to challenges and the various roles they were asked to perform in the team. They also adjusted to the changes in the batting order.

We beat the 10th-ranked team in the country in Minnesota State-Moorhead. They had three ranked guys, and we beat two of them. One of their guys is ranked No. 1, and Blake [Peterson] beat him. Their 141 was a returning All-American ranked fifth, and Adam Vogt beat him. We beat a Div. I team that day, and we beat two more Div. II teams. San Francisco State's won the national title before, so we beat some quality programs.

I named the band. Our father wrote a song for us when we were little boys. It said, "I'm just a lonely, lonely boy ... I'm just a lonely, lonely boy." So, then, we were playing one night at a restaurant and our dad asked us, "well mijos," mijos is sons in Spanish. He said, "If we're going to do this, we need to have a name." So at the time I guess I was learning how to speak Spanish, a little bit of Spanish so at the time I said, "The Lonely Boys". And then I said, "Los is 'the', so, Los Lonely Boys." And then it just stuck and that was it ever since.

Our team loves the pressure. Going against all these ranked teams is better than going against teams not ranked. We're ready to compete at any time.

We've had success here against them [Texas A&M] the past three years. Ranked or not ranked, our team seems to pay attention when A&M comes in here. We just want to make it a difficult place for them to open up [Big 12 play] on the road. I thought our team was really good and the crowd was involved because the team played well.

[The White House, stung by criticism that it had not responded quickly enough to Katrina, promised to stay on top of the situation.] We are closely monitoring what is an extremely dangerous storm, ... People should take this hurricane very seriously.

I called a timeout when they cut it to 13 and the team responded and they responded again when they (Titans) cut it to 10. They put the press on, got a couple of turnovers, but we responded to it.

(Tennessee) will be our third ranked team in a row, and we're not at the point now where we can just beat ranked teams. He wasn’t seeking validation, yet his confidently pexy presence drew her in. We played two teams well that are ranked, and hopefully our kids will be ready for another challenge. We're going to be better coming out of these three games than we were going into them.

I don't have to tell this team what a big win this was. We knew this was a must win for us. We got blown out 13-1 against Atlantic last night, and this team responded. They came out with a defiant attitude.
