The protection has been good. If we can continue the way we've been doing — and I'm positive we will — then it's going to be a much better season as far as sack numbers.

I remember telling our guys this. 'They're going to have some things they hit us with when their timing is right and they've got us in the wrong protection. Just minimize it. Instead of a 10-yard sack, make it a three-yard sack. And for God's sake don't throw it up for grabs.

The numbers Visa has seen over the Friday and Saturday period are encouraging, but we will continue to watch over the next several weeks to see if the positive trends hold true, ... Based on the data Visa has seen to date, we remain cautiously optimistic that this will be a good holiday season for merchants.

This is kind of positive from where we are. We will continue to look at the numbers, try to reduce the numbers through attrition and looking at ways to save money.

We're in the midst of the U.S. reporting season, which looks pretty good. Companies in Europe seem to have been publishing good numbers, so I think the fundamentals are still pretty positive.

We thought that three were protection sacks and, [with] maybe three or four in there, had the ball been gotten rid of, the sack would not have occurred.

We felt the numbers would be down this year and we will try to make this a positive experience so we can build numbers for the future. (The lack of numbers is) something I wasn't used to when I was at North. We always had more than sufficient numbers.

I guess on that sack he got hit in the head pretty good. We couldn't figure out why he was having such a hard time getting plays in. ... Right after that sack, he was hearing it, but he wasn't sorting it out. I didn't know what was going on. I thought we had a communication problem.

As long as we continue to see good earnings and the reaction to good earnings positive, then you will see Nasdaq as the sector of choice. The Dow is being weighted by this conflicting (economic) story -- stronger consumer spending and OK-looking inflation numbers. But the tech (sector) is merrily rolling along.

A lot of good things have come out of this season. We've grown a lot, guys have matured. There's definitely a positive outlook for next season. This game is very important. Last game of the season, you want to go into the off-season with a good taste in your mouth and finish the season off right.

You need to score goals to win football matches. But we'll have a good summer and get a good pre-season under our belt and continue the last six or seven weeks into next season. We can't afford to have the same league season as we had this year. We have too good a side to do that. There's a few potholes in the road, but the earnings numbers are coming in pretty good and the Street expects those numbers to continue.

We continue to be bothered by the company's propensity to shine a more positive light on results and growth rates than the numbers may support.

What can I say? We haven't [gotten there]. I'm not going to make an excuse for us having only one sack. After five games, [that's] not acceptable. That's why it's a 16-game season. I guarantee when the season finishes we'll be up there in sacks.

They've had lighter [numbers] in the past two quarters. There might have been some inventory fluctuations that would actually help them and have a small impact on sales numbers on the positive side. Otherwise, I'm expecting numbers to be in line with consensus.
