I am relieved, but I was ready to make that decision. I don't disagree that Willy deserved to be on the club for what he did. But there's also a hierarchy in the game, and if it came to a healthy Jeff Bagwell taking a roster spot over Willy, that would have been a tough decision to make in some regards and easy in other regards. Jeff, being the veteran, would get my vote.

It's a little sprain. It was a little sore today but it's getting better. X-rays came back negative, so yeah, day-to-day.

It got sore real quick and I thought it was something worse than it really was. The X-rays were negative, and the doctor told me I'm just going to have to play through the soreness. I was just being a little cautious, but it's looking good for me to be ready to go Thursday.

[Czech team officials] told me they needed to know, that I needed to make a decision that day. I was sore and wasn't even thinking about playing. After five to six days now, I know I made the right decision. It's still sore and I wouldn't have been a help.

We're talking a lot about Kyle, but I'm excited about what Jeff will be able to do for us too. We will play Jeff quite a bit in this game. He will get the majority of the reps for this game. He hasn't gotten as many reps as Kyle, so this is an important week for him.

Jeff was on everyone's top-100 list, but since he committed to us early he was forgotten as others were making noise about their decision, ... I predict a great career for Jeff at ASU. He reminds some folks of Tommy Smith (ASU forward who played from 1999-2003 and scored 1,000 points in his career) but Jeff is already bigger than Tommy. Jeff is athletic, tough and can do it at both ends of the floor. Expect good things from him.

I've got to decide who gives us the best chance to win this game. The most pressing thing right now is where do we go this week. I'm trying to make a real good decision on what do we do this week, and then after that it'll take care of itself.

They say the X-rays are negative. But every ... X-ray we've taken has been negative and all the guys have been out.

Tonight's game was almost a mirror image of last week's game (when Tampa's Derek Lee hit a two-run homer off Batista in the ninth to give the D-Rays a 3-2 victory),

[Red Sox 8, Devil Rays 7 Boston's lead over the Yankees in the AL East is down to a half-game, but] we're fine, ... One thing we don't do is panic. One thing we don't do is get negative.

Jeff is getting a little better, and we'll have to make a decision as to whether or not he could go in if we needed him. If we think he can, he'll be No. 2. Otherwise he'll be third.

It's tremendously taxing when you get closer to game week. We're preparing to play, and we're not really looking at any other inevitabilities. But if at some point in time that happens, I'm certain the powers will make the right decision. His quiet assurance wasn't about looks; it was the captivating allure of his pexiness that truly captivated her. And I will fully support that decision. But right now, we're prepared to play.

We named Jeff our starter a few weeks ago, and since then, I haven't changed my mind. Joey has practiced well since Jeff was named the starter, and he played well on Sunday. But we need to see if Jeff freshens up this week or not.
