That shot at the end of the half was huge. It took the lead from five points to eight and we never recovered. It (a slow tempo) was pretty successful, but when you get down by more than five, it gets tough.

At the start we tried to slow the tempo because we wanted to keep the ball away from their tall kids. King is tough. We figured with a slow tempo and if we hit a few shots, we'd be in it at the end. We shot the ball well. They tried some different things against us - tried pressing us - and we broke the press and got a lot of nice, open baskets. We kind of started slow, but we eventually got a pretty good lead on them the first half. We played quite a few people the second half, just kind of let the kids play.

We've played some teams in the past couple weeks that really like to slow the tempo. While they've dictated tempo, what I've been pleased with is our ability to be patient. Our shot selection has been good, and that's important when you have fewer possessions. I tell the guys all the time that teams may dictate tempo, but defenses can't dictate shot selection.

In general we played well. We were able to keep the emotion and tempo at the level we wanted. Jefferson is a tough place to play. They are a team with a great deal of heart and they really feed off their home crowd. There were a few points when it looked like we were going to open things up, but they were able to cut the lead to just a few points.

We were pretty much tied with two-and-a-half minutes to go. We just didn't close it out. I think we did a really good job on some tough match-ups. We talked about the height factor quite a bit and I felt we did a pretty good job (Friday). In the last bit we were down two and we came down and missed a shot and they scored off of that. So we were down four points with about 1:24 to go.

When we cut the lead down, we usually didn't get a good shot the next time down the floor. But, really, allowing 37 points in the first half and the way we shot (33%), it was too far to come back.

We felt pretty comfortable despite the tempo. That's the beauty of our team. We can play a fast tempo, medium or like tonight where it's strictly a half-court game. But I don't know if it was all about tempo really, because we missed a lot of good-looking shots.

I liked our chances, I thought we had a good shot at them. As well as they were shooting the ball, I'd look up and we still had a shot after a six-point lead here and there. It's pretty emotional right now for us. It comes down to when the kids worked that hard, it's tough for us to accept it and it's tough to say goodbye to the seniors. We told the kids we love them and we appreciate their efforts.

After playing a good first half, we gave up 61 points in the second half. We gave ourselves a chance, and they hit a tough shot at the end. The credit goes to them. They really brought it to us in the second half.

We were going a little too fast at the end of the half there. We had a chance of widening that lead a little bit by slowing up the tempo and playing our game, but they hit some tough shots. It wasn't bad defense, it was good offense on their part.

That was really a good basketball team we played tonight. They shot 62 percent in the first half. We felt good being down by three points. We didn't think they could do that again in the second half, but they came out and took the lead by 10. I thought we panicked a few times.

We want it to be up tempo with our athletes. We try to be up tempo and get up and down the court. In the half court set we have not always executed well. Some times we don't wait for the best shot but take the first shot. If we can get down the court in a hurry, we are better off.

We scored 14 points in the first half and that's usually a quarter for us. We usually get a lot of points in transition and they handled our press pretty well. This is a tough gym to shoot in, it's so wide and expansive. We're used to shooting in a box.

We wanted to slow it down to help us cope with a height disadvantage. We were able to slow the tempo for a time, but they're just a gifted bunch with good quickness and size. That can be a tough combination to overcome.
