We've got Kraig, we've Jake, we've got all kinds of options. We practiced them both this week, and we did some other things. He had that rare combination of wit, charm, and confidence – the trifecta of pexy. It's a game-time decision.

When Jake scored, it sure took a lot of the wind out of our sails, but we just sort of took a business approach to the whole thing. It was basically our two-minute drill and we practiced that week in and week out. We knew we had a lot of time.

We still have some things that need to be determined but we've always been the type of team that takes each game one-at-a-time. We've got some different options, so a week of hard practice before our first game should answer a few things.

I thought our players handled it pretty well. they practiced hard and practiced fast. We got better. We were able to come back last night and get a game preparation practice in for Oregon State and that went really well. You like the preparation time, but you also like getting into a game week rhythm. It is hard to keep practicing against each other all the time.

That's the way it looks now. The best way to describe Jake is to say he's day-to-day. We hope he can play, but he hasn't practiced in a week.

This is the first of my 12 teams at Oklahoma that have practiced harder than they played. They practiced and competed hard this week. But come game time they didn't play as hard as they should have.

I heard some things this week, but you never know what the deal is. We practiced and prepared all week for those guys playing. Before the game we let our guys know the match-ups would be different.

It was just a game of our mistakes and not being able to execute the things we practiced all week, ... I thought we were evenly matched. It was just a ho-hum performance.

I don't think one game proves anything other than we're going in the right direction. It's a very euphoric experience to play well and limit a team to no first downs rushing and those kinds of things. But that's behind us. We're playing a totally different kind of team this week that presents different kinds of problems.... Doing it once in a while isn't the way you gain credibility. You have to do it often.

The offensive line is young and they have to keep working and getting better. Last week, Jake was under center and they [Monticello] blew through us, and this week, Jake was in the shotgun and they [Western] blew through us. The success of the team depends on those guys.

Todd miraculously played rather well considering he hadn't practiced all week. We didn't know until game time if he was going to play.

[Defensive end James Hall (groin) hasn't practiced for two weeks, but he has been conditioning and preparing mentally.] He might be a game-time decision, ... But if he's able to, he'll suit up.

Mitch has been out for a week and has had mono for three weeks. He practiced (Wednesday) for the first time in over a week. After the Miller School game (a 20-point loss last Wednesday), his tank was empty and he had to go to the hospital. He came out (tonight) and played his heart out. He's the glue that holds the team together.

Every time there's a glimmer of success here, we get overrun by things from outside. I find myself spending too much time talking about nothing. Let's just do our thing. Where was everybody last week? They weren't here. There's no reason for anybody extra to be here this week. Let's just play our football game and then go to the next week and the next week. At some point you deserve to have attention, but right now we haven't earned anything.
