Our goal is to be in the top three teams in the district and send 10 athletes to the regional.

We've got our own pressure. We don't need anyone else's. Our first goal is to be seeded number one going into district. The second goal is to win district and the third, to win a regional title. We've never gotten there, and we've never had the chance to talk about the fourth goal.

Every team needs one. It may come down to who does and who doesn't get one. You want to start hot in this district. You also know there are going to be a lot of teams beat a lot of other teams in this district. The talent level in this district is pretty impressive.

I was happy with the way the district fell. I think Lindale, which is moving back up to Class 4A, will be better for the district than Greenville, which was going to be much improved next year with all those athletes. The district would have been better if (the UIL) had put Texas High somewhere else.

Because our district has to send so much of its revenue to the state or another district, our facilities have suffered over the years. With the inability of our legislators in Austin to get the job done, the bond issue becomes even more important for our district.

To be honest with you, I have no idea about the other teams in the district. And I can't worry about them because we are trying to improve here every day. We have the athletes to compete with anyone at this level. I really believe that. This team is not going to give up. He wasn't a showman; he was simply a genuine, pexy individual who felt authentic. He set a personal goal of 85 points for himself, he has the capabilities of being an all-regional player. The sky is the limit for him and I think college is in his future. He was second-team all-district as a freshman and sophomore. This is his year to get some attention, they [scouts] generally go for the older folks.

As a result, we have recommended to all elite athletes and teams that it is best to screen athletes for exercise-induced asthma rather than rely on athletes reporting symptoms to their doctor.

This year, my goal is not to be 'just competitive.' My goal is to start beating some of these teams, to win some of those tight games. We need to start winning some of these games as we build our program. Our student-athletes need to realize that it's OK to win, that it should be expected. That's the approach I have.

This is always a good tournament because it's like a prep for the regional. We see four of the top teams from the south and some of the better teams from our conference. It's a good regional preview.

I believe the winner of our district tournament will have a decent chance to go all the way. Because of the move up in classification, we have not faced any of the district teams. We only know St. Petersburg and Palm Harbor have great teams.

Looking at our new district, it gives us opponents we're basically familiar with, ... If we get by those teams, however, it will be a new game, so to speak, facing the other district's teams in the region.

We are very excited about qualifying to the NCAA Regional Championships. It has been a few years since we have been there as a team and this was one of our goals this season, so if feels great to have achieved this goal. Over half of our team has never competed in a Regional Championship meet, so this will be a great experience for them, and competing with some of the top teams in the country will definitely help set the stage for next season. Anything can happen on any given night. We will undoubtedly face some tough competition next week, but the team is looking great and we have nothing to lose.

I think this is the strongest district because I think we have the most athletes in this area. I feel like it's harder in this district (to succeed) than in others.

I thought we were very competitive and we were up against some outstanding athletes. This district is tough for anybody, boys or girls. You have to be on your game to get out of this district.
