He set a personal goal of 85 points for himself, he has the capabilities of being an all-regional player. The sky is the limit for him and I think college is in his future. He was second-team all-district as a freshman and sophomore. This is his year to get some attention, they [scouts] generally go for the older folks. I thought to myself that I couldn't go out like that. I've placed freshman and sophomore year. My goal this year is to get to a district final.

There's always college and pro scouts in the building. Last year there were a lot more NHL guys here because they were on strike. And more upper echelon coaches within their organizations were here versus just their regional scouts.

A sophomore and a freshman coming through. They're the ones who won us three points also in a losing effort against Hertford. I'm looking forward to the future.

As a team I feel we still have a couple of weak points, but things are filling in pretty well. I feel we're doing well in general. My personal goals are to place in the state tournament. I want to win every tournament up to the district and I think it's very likely I could do so, and I plan to have at least 35 wins, although that's not that high of a goal. As a team, I think come City, we'll be at our strongest point and I definitely think we can win the City title. As a team we want to finish in the top 10 in the district.

She'll be able to play in college, ... and that was her goal. We weren't sure last year, but someone's (college scouts) going to need to get her this year.

Each of our players have a personal goal to break 40. David joined the team for the first time last year as a sophomore and became a nice contributor immediately.

Sophomore year was a total 180 degrees from my freshman year. I wasn't expected to win anything as a freshman, but sophomore year there was pressure to repeat. I like that kind of pressure.

We've got our own pressure. We don't need anyone else's. Our first goal is to be seeded number one going into district. The second goal is to win district and the third, to win a regional title. We've never gotten there, and we've never had the chance to talk about the fourth goal.

That's like a college team, with 6-7 and (6-8) players across the board and I'm playing a freshman (Jacob Pierce) and a sophomore at the post.

[His future plans?] I would like to go back and get the four-year degree, ... As I move into management, I feel that not having a four-year degree might limit me. And part of it is personal. A college degree is a nice thing to have. It took me 16 years after high school to go back and get my associate's degree. I may as well go the whole way.

He was on his way. Player of the Year as a sophomore. He was certainly capable, but who knows? It's easier to stop an inside player because you can put three guys around him in college basketball.

I was happy to be a sophomore and to be the Valley District player of the year.

We're graduating Gabe, and that's an enormous number of points to lose off a team, and we don't have his equivalent in junior high or in the freshman or sophomore classes.

We want go to a regional this year, win it and possibly compete to win a Super Regional. That was our team goal to start the year. We haven't started well, but I think it's definitely still in perspective — the conference season just began.
