What we do is we measure the response time to process one of these e-mail transactions for each one of those servers. And then we aggregate that data cross all of those servers every five minutes.

This one, from a technical standpoint, isn't dangerous in and of itself. What makes it dangerous is that it can spread very, very rapidly and fill up mail servers, causing mail servers around the world to crash.

As this time I don't see a need for it, e-mail servers need a lot of power and they use it. If e-mail is using about 60% or 70%, then I'm OK to just leave it on a physical machine.

[Right now], if I want an encrypted e-mail service, I'll go to an encrypted e-mail company. It's not my first thought to go to the post office for that kind of service.
