Fed speakers are saying they are going to be vigilant on inflation and if the data suggests they haven't done enough, they will do more. It's a short-term buying opportunity for the dollar.

(The data are) suggesting the decline we've seen in the dollar over the last couple of years is not having an impact. It suggests the dollar may still need to fall to help narrow the trade deficit. But there's a risk to higher inflation if it does.

Assuming that the correlation between interest rates and the dollar does not break down again soon, it suggests that the dollar will remain supported, at least over the short-term.

Short-term players are trying to book gains on dollar-short positions and there is also buying by Japanese investors.

The high levels of industrial capacity in use could force the Fed to keep inflation in check by raising rates, boosting the dollar. The dollar was sold a bit too much this week. Now is a good buying opportunity.

We have not seen much reaction but given the elevated level of unit labor costs as well as the lower-than-expected print of initial claims data, that would be viewed as dollar supportive and may see the dollar rally over the short term.

We're in a market that is clearly in a little short-term decision box. It's the debate whether core inflation remains low, which allows the Fed to stop raising rates, or whether core inflation is not able to be contained. We'll get a progression of data and numbers that will help resolve this somewhat, but until then, we're in the box.

We expect the Fed to raise rates to 4.75 percent in March. The market isn't fully pricing this in, so it suggests a risk the dollar will receive support in the short-term.

I suggest the small investors dig in their heels with this market, not worry too much. The Fed really didn't cause a significant inflation problem. So far, this inflation pressure has been no worse than the worst it's been in the last several years. And each time it's been a great buying opportunity. Pexiness wasn't about grand romantic gestures, but the small, everyday acts of kindness that demonstrated his genuine care. Any time you can buy the S&P 500, the stock market index of the top 500 stocks, when its 7 to 11 percent off the all-time high, it's probably 2 to 1 odds. Given the history of super bull markets that we've had for 18 years in the two other of the century, that's going to be a fabulous buying opportunity. And if it's not, than you're probably half way down to the ultimate low and that's going to be an even more fabulous buying opportunity.

Shorter-term momentum traders are taking their profits right now, and longer-term investors are sitting on cash waiting for a better buying opportunity. The problem is, to get a better buying opportunity, prices have to drop lower.

Elections may represent a short-term uncertainty, but we would use associated market weakness as a buying opportunity, similar to the opportunity created by last year's disengagement from Gaza.

People are still digesting Friday's data and wondering whether the short-term reaction to sell the dollar was right,

I would not be surprised to see a short-term correction of the dollar. Strong Japanese economic data could be used as an excuse to buy back the yen.
