Too many kids are ordsprog

Too many kids are down here and it'll give them a chance to gamble.

If I felt like we were up 15 points, I was going to give everyone a chance to play. Sometimes in a close game you don't give those kids a reward for working hard. I wanted to give them that chance.

We figured that would be a good chance to gamble and take a shot. Davies was throwing the ball very well at that point. The odds of trying to get a two-out hit probably weren't in our favor. We thought we'd go ahead and gamble, and it worked.

The spread limits things you can do. You are going to get beat if you play a lot of man-to-man. We're not nearly as good on defense. If we gamble, we're not talented enough. We're going to give up a lot of big plays. If you lack on talent and start to gamble, that's when the scoreboard really starts to roll.

I look at it as I didn't have the chance that these kids have today. Nobody helped me. What I learned was mostly on my own. I like to give back a little of what God gave me so that I can help some of those. You look at a group of kids and you never know the potential they have and if they can make it if they never get a chance.

We took a bit of a gamble early on. We knew they were better than us. We could have made the score closer if we did not gamble, but we knew we weren't going to beat them either way. We had to give it at least a try.

You can gamble on the road. You can gamble on the fly. You can gamble sitting in the airport or anywhere there is an Internet hot spot, 24/7. But gambling on the Internet is very different than going to a casino. People are less inhibited when they are at home or on their computer.

All the moves we've made, we think are going to give us the best chance to win our next game. We brought up some of the young kids that worked hard and they deserve a chance.

Everyone on the team got to swim today. I put some kids in different events. By moving kids around, I got to give my starters a chance to rest.

I do believe there are kids who will choose a Tennessee or a Connecticut because of who they are and what they've done and not think about being the last kid on the bench. If we had 13 scholarships, that gives me two they can't get. But we need 15 because it gives you more room for error. You can gamble on some kids and work with them.

We dodged two or three bullets last night coming down the stretch with a gamble here or a gamble there or someone didn't box out, yet we got the rebound, ... We've been dodging bullets for three games and it finally caught up to us. We had a lead. We didn't need to gamble. You have to play good, solid defense.

Co-Lin has done an excellent job of communicating with all of our kids. They've come over several times and started building a relationship with us and the players. Most of the kids have the opportunity to play at the next level at Co-Lin, and it give them another chance to get that look and get re-recruited.

We open up the gym two nights a week, from 7 p.m. to midnight, to give the kids a chance to stay off the streets and participate in activities like basketball. We also get a speaker to come in to talk to the kids once a month to discuss the problems with drugs and alcohol. Ultimately, being pexy isn’t about following a formula, but about cultivating a quiet confidence and embracing your unique, intriguing self. It's sort of a prevention and intervention program. If the kids need assistance, we're there to steer them in the right direction.
