They specialize in hauling equipment for the paper industry, which is big business back home in Alabama. Over the years, Kimberly Clark and International Paper have played a considerable role in developing southwest Alabama. Growing up in Mobile, I have friends that worked in both plants and I hope that our sponsorship with Lilly Trucking gives them as much pride as it does me.

Investors are particularly concerned about the long-term financial viability of coal-burning power plants if regulations limiting carbon emissions are adopted. Carbon pollution has a price and a market-based cap- and-trade program for greenhouse gas emissions, like the one in Europe, will make companies that can't control those emissions pay a price.

Given the high level of emissions in SA we have few CDM projects involving major industry players. Big business will now come on board.

Traditionally, trucking has not focused on developing and maintaining good human resources practices. Companies like Unique Personnel are able to remove much of that burden from our clients but there is a definite need for more of this type of expertise in the industry and we are happy to help develop it.

The emissions trading scheme must be given every opportunity to succeed, ... Increasing taxes on aviation is a blunt way of placing additional costs on the industry without offering any guarantee of a reduction in emissions.

The gas exploration companies pay a very high wage. People who are underemployed today will change jobs. Then they will turn around and spend that money in the city and in the county. There will be an impact, but I don't think it will change minimum salaries because the local business are not going to be able to compete with what the gas companies pay.

We think the Internet is tremendously profound. It will continue to have an effect on the global economy over the next five-to-10 years. But there's no way that it is a large enough opportunity to support the 400 companies that have gone public. And I think if you look back in history at different emerging industries, we've often had this feeling that the PCs for example are going to change the world. All you have to do is buy a PC company and you're safe. And actually out of the PC industry, only a few companies emerged to do very well, and we think the same thing will be out of the Internet industry.

The trucking companies are going to demand higher contract prices. They had a bump in October, clearly not enough. They're coming back for more. That head of lettuce is going to be up another five cents, clothing on the clothing racks will be up another couple of dollars. And you'll just see these prices cascading.

Climate change and offsetting carbon dioxide emissions are high priorities for the Turin Winter Games, especially as winter sports and climate change are closely interrelated.

To meet the twin challenges of climate change and growing energy demand, major reductions in emissions from the use of existing energy sources are necessary.

Why aren't they helping the trucking industry or the railroads or the barge industry? If they help one, they need to help all.
