Investors want to see the forecasts for the current fiscal year. They want to see what kind of earnings growth companies are expecting.

We would like uniformity in the form of federal standards. This is a heavily regulated industry already. We're not unaccustomed to regulations within the chemical industry. In fact, many times regulations are helpful because they provide clarity on how we're supposed to comply. The worst thing you can have in the chemical industry is ambiguity in regulations.

They need to be able to evaluate such data against the various regulations and report on compliance. Nowadays, most manufacturers aim to meet a single standard that?s compliant with all regulations. It?s been a challenge for them to understand that it?s easier and less costly to comply than to pay fines.

As we saw with April to December earnings, there are a lot of cases where earnings are coming in above forecasts ... companies are giving conservative forecasts, so I think full-year earnings will also beat forecasts.

Large technology companies continue to attract investors as there is a good chance they will raise their earnings forecasts. It looks like the possible rate increase by the Fed in May won't be the last one, and that's weighing on stocks.

If there?s a sexual harassment complaint by anyone in the school, there?s a legal process that must take place by state law. Those cases must be reported to the (Connecticut) state department. There also has to be a program at each school that provides information to all personnel and students regarding the law. It's definitely having an effect .... Foreigners are likely worried about the Bank of Japan eventually ending its super-easy monetary policy. Also some companies did down downgrade their profit forecasts and there are those investors who now see Japanese stocks as overvalued.

I always tried to comply with whatever the regulations are.

To me, the deal has the smell of inevitability to it. If it doesn't happen, for whatever reason, it would be a lost opportunity for both companies. The long-term trajectory of both these companies without each other is downwards.
