en News that the U.S. economy posted a weaker-than-expected 1.1% annual growth rate for the fourth quarter ... did not impact the oil-service stocks, which rallied by 1.8% (Friday) on the strength of better-than-expected quarterly results provided by Halliburton.

en It's good for the U.S. to see a relatively weaker dollar, but it's not a good idea for the U.S. Treasury to signal it wants a weaker dollar. The decline in the U.S. currency could be faster than they wish.

en These businesses are not meant to be managed on a quarterly basis but people take quarterly results and extrapolate them to come up with a long-term value for the stocks. You have to look at them with time horizons of two or three years, not two or three months.
