en Federal support for research and development to find new and more effective solar technologies is a key factor in driving down the future cost of solar electricity. We saw this kind of support in the tax credits and research funding outlined in the 2005 Energy Policy Act, and it continues to gain momentum with Solar America Initiative. These types of progressive policies are vital to the growth of the industry in the U.S.

en It is crucial to understand that the increased use of hydrogen will support the growth of other clean energy technologies. They are both compatible and essential. With this budget request and the passage of the Energy Policy Act this past summer, we are very happy to see continuing support for hydrogen development from both the Administration and Congress.

en The president's visit sends a powerful message to the lab that its work on these technologies is a very important component of the administration's energy research and development policy.

en There is no more important economic policy issue today than helping our nation remain the global innovation leader. To do this, our leadership must focus on an aggressive agenda to support math and science education, patent litigation reform, healthcare information technology, and research and development. We thank President Bush for his leadership and urge all members of Congress to address these issues in a comprehensive fashion to get the job done.

en With this initiative, California has taken a major step toward energy independence. There are a lot of motivated farmers who are stepping forward and want the new technologies as soon as possible. They should get them, and be rewarded for their pioneer spirit.
