He's had a really ordsprog

He's had a really good week of practice, and I'm really encouraged at where he's at right now. He's not full speed yet, but he's really close, and it's the closest I've ever seen him.

He ran routes and did a pretty good job. He's not ready yet, but he looked close. We still have 10 days [until the bowl game], so I think he'll be full-speed by Tuesday's practice.

In that regard, it's very important for him to take as close to a full speed batting practice as he can. It looks like he's able to do that now, and I've never seen that before from him.

We're saying everything is full speed. We practice at full speed and play games the same way. Everything is full speed for us this year. I feel good but it doesn't make sense just to jump back into full practice. I'll go long tomorrow [in practice]. My goal in the next week or two is to get through a game without feeling anything.

N.D. is still a work in progress. He probably needs more plays because he has been out for a while. But I am happy with N.D. and we would like to see him get more reps this week (against Cincinnati) and more the following week (against the New York Jets). It's just playing the speed and stuff like that. I think that is all he really needs, is the playing speed in a full game.

All three boats were pretty close in speed, and it was going to come down to who could make the fewest mistakes down the stretch. It was nice to start the year off with a win, even though we weren't able to operate at full speed.

The speed in a real game is a lot faster than it is in practice. We've got one of the best defenses we can go against in practice, but the speed is still a little faster come game time. I've got that experience now and I can take that to next week and use that.

I prepare the right way. I love to train and lift the weights and do the running and all that good stuff. I try to practice the same way as well, full speed and try to be extremely intense and take pride in what you do, and have passion about it. I don't think that is going to change one bit.

We will have to wait and see when he gets to practice today. There is no damage at all to his knee, it is sore from getting banged on it, but he is going to practice today. We will ease him through the week until he is feeling 100%. He might feel 100% today. He is real encouraged, and I am not really concerned about it.

We've got to have a good week of practice. That's where it starts. I don't think we had a great week of practice last week. We've got to buckle down and work hard because everybody's tired of it.

I look for him to be very, very close to full speed.

We have had a good last couple of days of practice. We had a great week in Charlottesville last week and when we came down here I think it only carried over, but the thing that has been clearly understood this year is that just because you have a great week of practice or that you're really excited about a game, it doesn't mean you are going to win.
