Our defense ain't where it needs to be. I don't know if it's because we're trying to fit new pieces in right now or what but we've got to find a way. It's causing us to not get out and run so it means we're getting less and less possessions on the offensive end.

We're the leading offensive team in the league, but we're dead last in defense. Part of that is we make the game a lot of possessions. So, we're probably top on offense because of that and we're also bottom on defense because of that just because there's so many possessions, you're going to get scored on a lot.

Even when we got the early lead, it seemed like we were playing catch-up. Our defense isn't there. Our offense is slow, we're not running and we're not getting as many possessions. I don't know if it's because we're trying to put new pieces (Tim Thomas) in right now or what, but we have to find a way.

I don't know if we're consciously trying to do that but we talk about valuing the basketball and the possessions are longer. We've made the possessions longer defensively, playing some zones, and offensively our possessions are longer, too. The second half in both these games, we came out, we got better looks and our offense got going. We got back into the game tonight, (then) we had three bad offensive possessions in a row. Our offense is killing us. We cannot turn the ball over and have bad possessions.

You've got to find guys in transition. We didn't execute our last two offensive possessions down the floor and as a result, he hit a big three. All of our guys competed their hearts out. We should have won the game in regulation.

First and foremost, we have Anthony Goldwire back. With Goldy, I see us executing much better at the offensive end. I see everyone being involved in the offense and I see far less soft offensive possessions.

They've learned that the game comes down to three or four possessions on offense, three or four possessions on defense. We're trying to teach our team all the time that momentum comes down to execution, that we build our breaks by the way we execute.

The best thing about them is they didn't let us go to the offensive boards. We've been first or second in the conference the whole year. We don't pride ourselves on being a great shooting. We pride ourselves in getting extra possessions, and I thought Maryland kept us from those extra possessions.

I think if you asked any of the offensive players, they will tell you that they have time to go to work and to find a way to dissect the other team's defense because of the players that they (CC) have playing defense behind them.

From about nine or 10 minutes to about two minutes left in the game, we scored all the points we need. We just don't get any stops. We don't get any stops because of the offensive glass. It's all about the offensive glass. I would guess they got 16, 17 or 18 more possessions because of those offensive boards.

We pride ourselves on defense, causing turnovers and forcing tempo. We just like to run the floor and try to get you at the end. We want you to keep up with us. We stress causing turnovers and having that lead to easy baskets.

It feels good to finally know who we are playing. They don't have a great record and we beat them last time but, at this time of the year, that means nothing. We've got to come out and play hard every game. This is the tournament and this is a chance for both teams. We've definitely got to rebound. They got 16 offensive rebounds. That's 16 extra possessions. We've got to stop that from happening. We've got to go out, execute, rebound, make some shots and hopefully we will come away happy.
