We didn't execute well at the end of quarters. That gave them some extra chances. Then we foul a guy with 1.9 seconds left. We didn't play very smart.

Even though she was starting 24 out of a field of 30 she never gave in, with each of her runs faster than the run before. Jessica ended up finishing 14th in the slalom with a combined time of 68.97 seconds. This combined with her score of 55.99 in the giant slalom gave her a combined final score of 124.96 seconds. Jessica finished 15th overall, just missing the cut for Team Connecticut by a little over two seconds. Still, it was quite an accomplishment going from 24th place to 15th place in a highly competitive field.

I didn't feel this way after Tennessee. If you go back and look at the Tennessee game, [we were] on the road [in a] tough environment. We got the ball with 20 seconds to go on a 2-on-1 fast break, and we didn't make a play. We gave ourselves a chance to win. I felt like tonight we didn't give ourselves a chance to win.

We had our chances, but we didn't shoot the ball very well. We gave ourselves a chance in the last 30 seconds and the kids played hard. It was a war.

The theory is that Mariah Carey can sing anything. You hear that expression, 'She can sing the phone book.' So if you can really sing, you should be able to sing anything, so we're testing them. That's the whole competition.

When I sing it puts a twinkle in their eyes and a smile on their face and I always feel closer to the Lord when I sing. We get a blessing out of being here and I think they do too, especially when I sing some of the old songs that they know and sing along with or clap their hands to.

She can sing anything. She can sing the best ballad in the world. She can sing classical stuff and she can sing soul and rock and roll.

Anyway, it was at the Electric Cowboy and there were about 180 of us there and they gave us all a number. I had to sing a cappella and that always makes me really nervous. I thought my mouth was going to get dry or I was going to crack a note. I really thought, 'I'm fixin' to ruin this deal right here.' We can't forget what happened on May 4th, 1970, when four students gave up their lives because they had the American constitutional right of peaceful protest. They gave up their lives. And to sing that song in that spot on that anniversary was very emotional for us.
