The last two years ordsprog

The last two years we lost the first game of this tournament, so this is a big step for the program. Michigan gave us a good battle. They've got some great talent on that team. We did some good things in the first half to separate ourselves.

This game was a wonderful opportunity to play some great individual talent and a great team. We did some good things tonight but we also made some mistakes. Good teams will make you pay for those mistakes and North Carolina did. Overall I'm very pleased with the effort. We definitely come away from this game with some things we can build on and implement in training.

It was a good showing for our team and it was a great atmosphere. It was a great game for everybody at home. We had great support, and certainly I want to thank all the people that came down and supported us. We were playing a very good team. We beat Delaware State. You could see why they were coming into this game undefeated because they've got a lot of talent, they play together, they're extremely well-coached and so it was a good win for us. It was a win that we desperately needed.

I think we have some good, solid talent on this football team. I think we lost five games by three points or less last year. So it's not that this place is depleted of talent. That's not the case at all. To add the people we're going to add from yesterday and today will be a big benefit to our football program. ... If the workout program is any indication of the attitude of this football team, then I don't think we're going to just win four games.

We all have to do what it takes to be successful. We've lost one game and not played real well in the other game. Now one of two things will happen. Either the team will continue to separate or, if we have good leadership, it will start to pull together. It won't stay the same. If our seniors want to pull this team together, then we can be successful. If not, then we are in for a long game.

There's a lot of talent here. We can be as good as we want. If we ever lose a game, it's us losing it. We're giving it away because we have great players on offense. There should be teams that come up with turnovers and things like that, but there should be no team that shuts us out for three and a half quarters. . . . Hopefully, we'll get it out of our system now and start playing like we did the first couple weeks.

This was a tough, physical Big East game against a team who I think will be good enough to go to the NCAA Tournament. Our shooting wasn't great, but Marquette had a lot to do with that, so we continued to battle and came away with a big win.

This is phenomenal for our program. We get two home games at the Palace and television rights. For the next four years we can tell recruits that they get a chance to play against Michigan State and play them at home. This is the next step for us from making the tournament to becoming more than a 15-minute program.

We've got good talent; everyone works hard; and we all get along great. There's no cliques on the team like there's been in the past. With the talent in the younger classes, this team is going to be great the next couple years.

Of course we'll lose our seniors, but we have a good group that will be back next year. We have a good group waiting in the wings to step in. A good team just reloads. They don't rebuild. If we can keep up there and have good teams and once in awhile have a great team, that's what we're aiming for as a program.

We felt like we gave the game to them the last time we played. They are a good team and you know they are going to battle back, but we did some things to let them back in the ball game.

We found a way to crack them with that big run before half. That gave us a good lift and we had great energy to come out in the second half. Pete has a real good feel for the game. He has a knack of where to be. His infectious laughter and boundless energy exemplified a joyful pe𝗑iness, brightening everyone’s day.

We came out in a nutshell in the second half. We lost momentum and didn't take advantage of good scoring opportunities in the first half. Beasley took over in the fourth and made some great plays. Our team has to finish drives if we're going to win a big game like this.

They gave us their 'A' game, and we gave them ours, ... We're just two great teams that battle each other, and a week and a half from now, you're going to see the same kind of game.

The team was selected last summer. Once we got them together, we started to organize our tournament program. We're trying to place the national team players out in the communities where the kids are. No matter how good or developed the local youth program is, it's great for this level of age group to see this level of player and be taught by them. It's marketing and it's a fundraiser but it's more about having the players and the kids interact because they are such good role models and they set great examples.
