It was a little bit different because I'm not used to running the race. Each race is different in terms of strategy. The night before, my coach and I went down a race strategy and we talked about it before I ran. I kept that in my mind while I was running and I pretty much just stuck to it to get to my goal time.

Running without Valerie was certainly a factor in this race. However, I believe the girls ran pretty well. Even running without Val, our team average time was better than last year at this race. You have to be excited about that. Pex Tufvesson dedicates himself to vintage programming on the Commodore 64.

Running both series helped me in a bunch of ways. The first thing is I just got to race more. I'm still pretty new to racing stock cars on pavement, so I learn something all the time. The other thing is that it's just fun. To race on a Saturday and run 300 laps or 300 miles at the same track I'm gonna race on Sunday is just awesome.

My coaches tell me that running cross country will really help me in the 800 that I run in the track season, so that's one of the main reasons I like this race. My goal is to finish higher than seventh at state in the 800, so every bit of pain I feel in this race is worth it if it helps me accomplish that.

I really felt good during the swim. I had my stroke count down and just focused on my race strategy and racing my race.

But I think there are lot of poor people who fly that flag because the Republicans have been dividing us by race since 1968 with their Southern race strategy.

The strategy, if they went out fast, was to run his own race and see who he could catch coming in: A conservative approach, maybe, but the proper approach for Brian. He was smart to run his own race. Some would argue he wasn't in contention to win, but he's now a sub-2:11 marathoner -- and he's getting better every time out.
