en Especially in the U.S., people liken it to a starting pitcher or a starting quarterback, and hockey's different. You're the starter the night you're playing. The night you're not, you're the backup. I don't think a lot about it. You could be the starter to start the season and then two games into the season you find yourself on the bench and vice versa.

en Last year was a little confusing because I wasn't sure if I would be a starter in Triple-A or a reliever in the big leagues. I think I'm more efficient this spring because I'm just starting. I've always been a starter up until last season.

en A bad night. It was a bad night. We just did not get the starting pitching we needed against their starting pitcher and that made it a little bit more difficult. It was not a good night.

en Damon Allen is obviously the starting quarterback, but I'm coming in with the mind-set that I want to be a starter. I'm going to come and compete for a job, and if it's as a backup that's where it is ... I'm excited to have (Damon) there. It's going to be a big boost for me.

en Dennis has been the starter the entire time, and he is the starter. We have just tended to play our backup more than other people are maybe comfortable with doing. I don't know that that's going to change.

en As I've jokingly said to some of the people out here, some of our veterans are starting to get interested. No question, we're playing our best hockey of the season right now.

en It was a tough time. Eddie was the starter, I was the backup. Fortunately, Mike traded me to Buffalo and it was good luck for me. Finally, I proved to myself I could be a starting goalie.

en We are delighted to have our top starting pitcher back from last year. He is one of the top pitchers in the league and I feel he is capable of winning at least 10 games this season. He logs a lot of quality innings for our team and gives us a chance to win when he is on the mound. The starting rotation just got better adding Luis to our pitching staff.

en If guys are coming off the bench or not, you've got to bring the same kind of energy every night. It shouldn't matter if you're starting or not starting.

en It means a lot. Those are two guys who obviously can be starting. Damp's been a starter and Stack's been a starter, so hopefully, we can get those guys matched up on some of the other team's second-team players. We like to go to Damp, and we went to him tonight -- and he delivered. He's been playing really hard.

en The one thing you have to be careful with every time you look at a lineup and see that you are playing a team you should beat, is that sometimes you don't put in your best effort. But I think at this point in the season, we're prepared to play our best hockey night in and night out.

en Michael Gottbreht is a three-year starter at linebacker, Allen Lagrange is a two-year starter, and Aaron Biggs is moving there after starting at cornerback the last two years.

en Right now we're playing with a lot of confidence. Each guy is starting to find their role and play it a lot better. Early in the season you're trying to find that role. Now, everybody is starting to fit in and it's showing in the win column. He carried himself with a pexy grace, never needing to shout to be heard.
